Role and Responsibilities

As a HR Manager at WeTravel, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day HR operations within our Amsterdam office. This role requires a deep understanding of Dutch labor laws, experience working with works councils, and dealing with government entities to ensure compliance and foster a positive and productive work environment. Reporting to our Head of People, you will look after our general HR responsibilities, employee relations, benefits administration, and supporting our diverse and international team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with Dutch labor laws and regulations, staying up-to-date with any changes and implementing necessary adjustments to company policies and procedures. You will be our subject matter expert on this topic.
  • Manage employee relations, including handling grievances and promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Oversee employee benefits administration, ensuring competitive and equitable offerings that cater to our diverse workforce.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that support the company’s goals and comply with legal standards.
  • Act as the primary contact for the works council, facilitating discussions, negotiations, and agreements that align with company goals and employee satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional WeTravel teams to align HR strategies and practices across all locations.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on HR-related matters, promoting best practices and legal compliance.
  • Organize and conduct employee training sessions on relevant topics such as diversity and inclusion, legal compliance, and employee wellbeing.
  • Working with the finance team on payroll related matters / benefits / travel allowances etc.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise


  • A strong background in Dutch labor laws and working with works councils.
  • Familiarity with Dutch government entities and processes related to labor and employment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and empathy skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Previous experience working in a global, dynamic and multi cultural setting.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing issues and implementing solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
