Role and Responsibilities
WeTravel is looking for a detail-oriented, experienced, and highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to guide our talented software development team. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in software engineering, exceptional guidance skills, and a proven track record of managing successful development projects. Your keen attention to detail will be crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products and driving our team to excel.
Every software team needs to be fast-paced & detail oriented to be successful. And it takes an exceptional Engineering Manager to make it happen with an agile, remote and international team of 6-8 people.
Responsibilities
Every software team needs to be fast-paced & detail oriented to be successful. And it takes an exceptional Engineering Manager to make it happen with an agile, remote and international team of 6-8 people.
Responsibilities
- Nurture by example by taking ownership, being proactive and collaborating
- Inspire, motivate and directly manage engineers in various roles
- Oversee the entire software development life cycle, from planning and design to implementation, testing, and maintenance
- Develop and implement effective project management methodologies and best practices, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software products
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, assisting with complex problem-solving and promoting continuous learning and professional growth
- Monitor and evaluate team performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes to optimize productivity and efficiency
- Continuously research and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in software development and management
- Take initiative to address the larger technical needs of the features/product you work on
- Ensure that your team delivers that meets the expectations while taking all the non-functionals like security, performance, maintainability, and reliability into account

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Preferred
- Experience in management role (2+ years)
- Experience in hands-on software engineering (5+ years, preferably with Ruby)
- Experience in driving successful technical initiatives that improved productivity, performance and quality
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness
- Experience working in Fintech and developed payment solutions
- Demonstrable software design and development experience for distributed systems
- Demonstrable experience with relational(e.g MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational(e.g MongoDB, DynamoDB) databases
- Experience with message brokers(e.g RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS)
- Deep knowledge on Computer Science fundamentals, algorithms and data structures
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent people management and mentoring skills
Nice to have
- Experience working in an agile DevOps process
- Experience working on a SAAS product
- Experience with continuous integration, and continuous delivery
- Experience with Secure SDLC
**PS:This position requires to be based in Amsterdam and work from office 3 days a week.
