About the role:

JOB TITLE: PR & Media Relations Consultant - lifestyle & travel (freelance)

LOCATION: Texas, U.S. (remote)

TYPE OF CONTRACT: freelance

STARTING DATE: May 2026 (sooner welcome)

We’re looking for someone on the ground who can support us in navigating the U.S. media landscape — helping us understand how to show up, where to show up, and who to talk to.

In Europe, WeRoad is already a well-established brand with a clear identity: it stands for a new way of traveling, built around real human connections. Now, we’re ready to do the same in the United States.

You’ll work closely with WeRoad’s PR Manager and our corporate PR agency, contributing with your local expertise and perspective.

Who we're looking for

  • You have experience in leading PR activities and building strategies

  • You can show us some case studies, project and wins (especially the more unconventional one)

  • English is your mother tongue. You think in it, you meme in it, you create in it.

  • You’re comfortable working across time zones, with regular overlap with CET hours.

  • You're comfortable being autonomous. You don’t wait for direction — you bring ideas, perspective, and initiative.

  • You're hungry to prove yourself in a real company environment, and you see this as a chance to make an impact without gatekeeping.

  • You are based in Austin, or in other cities of Texas (but we will eventually consider also applicants in the East Coast)

  • You are allowed to work in the U.S.

PR-specific:

  • You have a solid understanding of the U.S. media landscape and how it operates

  • You already have (or can quickly build) a relevant network of media contacts in lifestyle, travel, or culture

  • You have a strong sense of what makes a story relevant, timely, and worth covering in the U.S.

  • You’re comfortable navigating both strategic conversations and hands-on PR work

  • You’re proactive, resourceful, and know how to move things forward even in a fast-changing environment

What you’ll do

  • Build and manage relationships with journalists, editors, and media contacts across lifestyle, travel, and culture

  • Proactively pitch stories and secure media coverage for WeRoad in the U.S.

  • Shape media angles and adapt messaging to fit different outlets and audiences

  • Identify timely opportunities (trends, cultural moments, news hooks) where WeRoad can be relevant

  • Create opportunities for engagement with journalists and key stakeholders (from informal touchpoints to more structured moments)

  • Think beyond traditional PR approaches — bringing fresh, out-of-the-box ideas on how to make WeRoad stand out

  • Support the execution of PR activities: outreach, follow-ups, press coordination, and day-to-day media management

  • Contribute to PR reporting by tracking coverage and gathering insights on performance

Why this is a good opportunity

  • You will join a startup team at the ground floor, you’ll work directly with WeRoad’s Marketing Global team and the U.S. launch squad.

  • You also will have access to the broader WeRoad/WeMeet ecosystem: people, insights, and resources, without the corporate overhead.

  • If you've been building your skills independently and want to bring them somewhere that will actually use them, this is that place.

You will love working with WeRoad if:

  • You dream big, aim higher, and push yourself beyond limits you didn’t think possible. Challenges excite you, and you’re hungry for the next win.

  • You want to be part of a young, smart, and fun team that shares your passion for travel. You thrive in a community of bold thinkers and doers who challenge and inspire each other.

  • You’re an entrepreneur at heart, take responsibility from day one, and move fast to make things happen.

  • You prefer adventure over routine and embrace the fast-paced, ever-changing ride of a scaleup. You make decisions quickly, test, learn, and adapt—because growth comes from action.

  • You believe in the power of people. Our WeRoaders and Travel Coordinators are at the core of everything we do, and you’re eager to be part of something bigger.

Ready to apply?

Send us a message or a short video (even better) where you tell us who you are, what you can do, why you're the best for this role. And a link to something you've made. No cover letter needed.
