At gotukio.com we are building a better way for the world to book their adventure travel. Our platform leverages a vast database of accommodation, transportation and activities to propose unique itineraries put together through our algorithm. Travelers can further customize their itineraries and book in a few clicks.

We are in seed mode, having raised our first capital and having an MVP out that is getting user traction and first bookings. We have a very small team and aim to stay as lean as possible.

Job Description:

As an early Engineer leading the front-end development, you have a key role in transitioning our tech from MVP to scale. You will work closely with our leadership and operations teams to build a scalable, efficient, and user-friendly product. This role requires a user-centric mindset, product orientation and solid foundations in front-end development, with a focus on creating a seamless user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Front-end Development: Design, develop, and maintain the front-end components of our platform. This includes testing, documenting and deploying code.
• Architecture: Propose and lead architectural decisions on the front-end keeping in mind the overall product and user experience.
• Experimentation and Product Influence: identify and verify quick wins with spikes and user-testing, propose new features and product improvements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with others to gather requirements, design solutions, deliver features and code-review iteratively.

Qualifications:

• Team Player: Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• User Obsession: product mindset and user-centric thinking is required to succeed in this role.
• Extreme ownership: we are a small team and plan to stay this way until we can grow organically. As such we need people that go beyond a job description to do what’s best for the product.
• Adaptability: that said we need to stay pragmatic and take reasonable shortcuts when needed based on changing requirements and where we stand.
• Engineering Excellence: Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Technical Skills:
  • JavaScript: Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and familiarity with modern frameworks (e.g., React, NextJS, Flutter) including testing and deployment.
  • CSS: Proficiency in CSS (e.g. Tailwind, CSS modules etc).
  • Version Control: Proficiency in Git and collaborative development workflows.

Nice-to-Have:

• Design work: ability to sketch wireframes and prototypes using Figma or other software, perform user interviews and other UX work is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (especially Firebase, Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Familiarity with DevOps, backend (e.g. Node/TypeScript) or database technologies (e.g., Supabase).
• Experience with leading a team of developers will be appreciated in the future.
