Our security team implements company-wide IT security concepts based on common standards and consults for our developers and operations teams in all forms of security demands. We also provide advice and support in the secure planning and implementation of a wide variety of projects in a very agile and business focused environment. As an IT Security Specialist focusing on security governance and secure software development, you'll play a critical role in fortifying our travel technology ecosystem. How you’ll make an impact:

  • Develop robust, secure, and innovative solutions with your comprehensive knowledge of security practices and experience in programming
  • Take responsibility for all security domains of trivago
  • Motivate and inspire engineering people to design, develop, and operate services in a secure and productive way
  • Be a security ambassador by raising awareness and weaving a security mindset in every aspect of the company
  • Develop a very good understanding of the company's business and scope to determine the IT security demands and shape our IT security strategy

What you'll need to thrive:

  • Demonstrable 5+ years' expertise as a Cyber Security Specialist and Developer, with a deep focus on secure software development practices
  • A degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and regulations
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Java EE, and Spring Framework
  • Good understanding of web application security principles, OWASP Top Ten, and secure coding practices
  • Knowledge of workplace IT security principles and a solid understanding of security tools used to detect, monitor, and enforce IT security
  • Solid knowledge of cloud governance and cloud security
  • Ability to implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Expertise in conducting security assessments, code reviews, and penetration testing
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams

Stand out with:

  • Hands-on experience as Developer / Pentester / SecDevOp / Administrator
  • Outstanding knowledge of cloud security
  • Experience in implementing security GRC structures (ISO/IEC 27x, ISMS)
  • Experience with Akamai security products
  • Prior experience in the travel industry or familiarity with its security considerations
