We believe that we are better together, and at Tripadvisor we welcome you for who you are. Our workplace is for everyone, as is our people powered platform. At Tripadvisor, we want you to bring your unique identities, abilities, and experiences, so we can collectively revolutionize travel and together find the good out there.

Tripadvisor is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join Tripadvisor’s IT Operations team. The IT Operations team is responsible for building, securing, and maintaining Tripadvisor’s corporate infrastructure. In this role, you will split your time between the support of our production environment and the rollout of new tools and technologies to our customers. We have cool technology and exciting projects ahead in both the cloud and on-prem, including an ongoing zero-trust architecture implementation, Active Directory, Passwordless, next-gen wireless networking, as well as AWS, Azure AD, and on-prem hyper-converged infrastructure deployments.

What You’ll Do

Support of our production environment:

  • First-tier support for production issues on a broad range of systems. Some new and shiny, some old and brittle, but all equally important.
  • Track, troubleshoot, and document production issues. Provide root cause analysis, working closely with other operations teams as needed. Participate in on-call rotation. We dislike pagers, too. Help us make it better!
  • Help identify and address technical debt by making process and procedure improvements and updating coding in systems and tools.

Project Delivery:

  • Help drive the team’s roadmap, plan out your projects, provide effort estimates, and manage the execution of the project.
  • Coordinate participation across teams.
  • Be responsible for all stages of major IT projects from start to finish, including design, implementation, testing, and operationalization.
  • Prototype, demonstrate, and package new technology as needed for internal projects or company directives.
  • Proactively find ways to improve the experience we can offer our customers from an IT perspective.
  • Develop new tools, and manage and improve existing ones using scripting and coding.
  • Document, communicate, share knowledge, and train/mentor your peers wherever needed.

Skills & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a similar focus.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible Windows administration and/or DevOps experience.
  • 5 + years of experience coding and/or scripting Powershell (required), Python, or other equivalent languages.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management and infrastructure orchestration tools. Experience with Terraform or Ansible is desired, but other CM or orchestration system experience may be applicable.
  • Experience working with code revision tools, preferably Git
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex technical problems with team members, customers, and vendors quickly and effectively
  • Cloud experience Azure and/or AWS

Must have technical skills/understanding in the following areas:

  • Azure Active Directory
  • Powershell
  • Windows Server
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • DNS
  • DHCP

Nice to haves:

  • Network administration experience
  • Cloud security experience
  • Experience in containerized environments
  • Experience with security endpoint software
  • Experience with OAuth/SAML/SCIM configuration/implementation
  • SCCM
  • Conditional Access
  • Public Key Infrastructure
  • Zero Trust Networking
  • Linux
