Head of Business Development
Travel Collection
The Head of Business Development will be responsible for driving new business growth for Travel Collection Limited (TCL) across the globe, with a specific focus on the U.S. market. This role requires a dynamic leader who can cultivate relationships, strategically expand TCL’s presence, and represent the company at key industry events. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the travel industry, with a proven track record in business development and a deep understanding of the Destination Management Company (DMC) sector.
For the right candidate, this role also includes the opportunity to build and lead a team of three (including yourself) to cover the North American market. Team members will be strategically located across the West Coast, Southern U.S. (Texas or nearby), and the East Coast.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development Strategy:
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to drive revenue growth and market expansion for TCL.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities with key travel agencies, tour operators, and other relevant partners in the U.S. and globally.
Client and Partner Relations:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with travel agents, agencies, and tour operators across the U.S.
- Organize and lead roadshows and sales presentations for TCL’s General Managers and other representatives, ensuring comprehensive coverage of key cities and markets.
- Train and support international sales teams on best practices for interacting with U.S.-based agents and clients.
Sales and Marketing Support:
- Collaborate with TCL’s marketing team to develop targeted promotional materials and campaigns that resonate with the U.S. travel market.
- Attend industry trade shows and conferences as the face of TCL, actively networking to generate leads and expand the company’s client base.
- Ensure consistent follow-up with potential clients and partners, maintaining accurate records of interactions and sales activities.
Market Analysis and Reporting:
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities in the travel industry.
- Provide regular feedback and insights to senior management on market conditions, client needs, and potential areas for growth.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
Negotiation and Contracting:
- Lead negotiations with key tour operators and partners to secure advantageous agreements that support TCL’s growth objectives.
- Develop and maintain a robust network of partners, ensuring that TCL has access to diverse and high-quality service offerings for its clients.
Required Skills and Experience:
Proven Expertise:
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role within the travel or hospitality industry.
- Extensive experience working with Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and a strong understanding of the U.S. travel market.
Leadership and Communication:
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams across different geographies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Strategic Thinking:
- A strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into actionable plans.
- Proficient in analyzing market trends and using insights to drive business decisions.
Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity with CRM software and other business development tools.
- Comfortable working across various technology platforms and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel extensively (40% or more) throughout the year, both domestically within North America and internationally.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strong communication with international teams.
