Regional API Implementation Manager

Location: Montevideo, Uruguay

Job Summary:

As an API Implementation Manager, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end implementation of our API solutions. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, managing project timelines, and ensuring that API integrations align with both technical and business objectives. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and external partners to ensure successful API deployment and adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of API implementation projects. Develop and manage project timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for API implementation projects. Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Technical Oversight: Collaborate with development teams to ensure API integrations meet technical specifications and quality standards. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation, including implementation guides, technical specifications, and user manuals.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee testing processes to ensure APIs function as expected in various environments. Validate that API performance meets agreed-upon criteria.
  • Partner Coordination: Work with external partners and vendors to facilitate API integrations and ensure compatibility with their systems. May include occasional travel within APac region to support external partner teams on-site.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and analyze API performance metrics. Identify opportunities for optimization and recommend enhancements to improve functionality and user experience.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to internal teams and external partners on API usage and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Ideally a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile) are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in API management, project management, or a related role. Proven track record of managing successful API implementation projects.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of API protocols (REST, SOAP), web services, and data formats (JSON, XML). Experience with API management platforms and tools (e.g., Apigee, Postman) is desirable. Some front-end developer experience in HTML, CSS and Javascript would also be useful.
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools. Experience with Agile/Scrum practices is beneficial.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage relationships with external partners.

Language Skill Requirements:

  • Must be fluent/conversational in the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese and English
