About Fora

Hi, we’re Fora. We’re reimagining the travel advisor industry with fresh eyes, and building a travel agency that is modern, inclusive, tech-enabled and well, cool.

Fora is a next-generation travel booking platform that, through training and tools, enables anyone to become a travel agent. Fora's mission is to empower 100,000 entrepreneurs to transform their passion for travel into revenue, and we’re doing it by curating the most incredible experiences for travelers.

Fora was founded in 2021 by travel entrepreneurs Henley Vazquez, Jake Peters and Evan Frank – who shared one big idea. Since then, we’ve grown to a team of 35+ full-time employees, with an office headquarters in TriBeCa, New York City.

We are fortunate to be backed by an incredible group of investors and are looking for more talented and mission-driven individuals to join our team.

About the Role

Fora is looking for an experienced Analytics Lead (Senior Manager / Senior Analyst level) to help us build and evolve our data stack and analytics function. We've been a small data team since Fora's founding in 2021 and are excited to start investing more proactively in building out the data function at Fora. This is a 'first in function' type role - it's a great opportunity for someone with a vision of what great could look like for Data at Fora and the know-how to deliver that vision. We see Data as a core strategic function for the business and are excited to support you in building it out.

Your mandate in your first 2-3 months is twofold: come up to speed on Fora's data ecosystem and own delivery of several of our known roadmap items. Initial projects will likely include:

  • Join data from disparate sources to enable better dashboarding, in particular sales/marketing data and events data for product analytics
  • Take over management of the existing data models we use for insights, including by non-technical users
  • Document our existing data stack and key inputs / tables
  • Evaluate whether/when we need to introduce a data transformation layer, with ideas for how

In months 3-4 and beyond, we will look to you to start to define and deliver on the 3/6/12-month data roadmap. We expect that will entail:

  • Implement tooling to evolve our existing data stack (e.g., add transformation layer, product analytics tooling)
  • Further delineate user types and permissions within our BI tool (data governance)
  • Review Product and Engineering development documentation to ensure we are building according to data best practices and in-house norms
  • Own board- and investor-level reporting and insights
  • Prototype product ideas/MVPs with data and low-code tools
  • Partner with Engineering to build and maintain data streams into and out of our data warehouse

In this role you will report to the VP, Data & Growth, who is based in NYC and works a hybrid WFH / office schedule.

About You

Fora is a fast-growth environment, which brings with it excitement and positivity, as well as ambiguity to structure as we go. You will need to be an independent thinker and problem solver who can figure things out from scratch - understanding source data and piecing it together to form a bigger picture whole that can deliver insight. The strongest candidates most likely derive innate satisfaction from a well-written query and clearly-visualized analysis that conveys a story to the least data-savvy among us. Most importantly, you understand how data can power a business and its people: customers, staff, and investors alike.

To be successful, we believe you need at least 5-7 years data-specific experience in some combination of high-growth, startup, tech, or consulting environments, with the following demonstrated skills and qualities:

  • SQL-proficient (advanced) and able to operate in Google Sheets
  • Understanding of the modern data stack and experience managing it (with support from Engineering for certain integrations) - from Insights tools like Periscope, Looker, Metabase to more under-the-hood infrastructure like BigQuery, Segment, dbt, FiveTran, Airbyte, etc.
  • Ability to communicate with both technical & non-technical stakeholders - this is the listening piece as well as spoken, written, and graphical communication out
  • Data visualization that delivers insight to any audience
  • Data governance best practices
  • Independent problem solver with keen attention to detail

The strongest candidates will also likely have some if not all of the following skills:

  • Acquisition marketing and/or e-comm analytical experience
  • Product analytics experience using event data
  • Independent project management and experience managing a roadmap and / or backlog

Compensation

Salary $120-135k + equity

This role is based in New York City with a hybrid WFH & office schedule (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday are our Tribeca in-office days, with flexibility for Monday/Friday at your preference).

Fora is backed by Forerunner, Insight Partners, and Heartcore.
