Introduction to the team
The Engineering Team creates high-quality end-to-end experiences for travelers, partners, and Expedia Group. Our focus on customer-centric innovation enables us to develop products that build loyalty and repeat business. We partner closely with teams across Expedia Group to drive growth and achieve results for our customers and the company.

The Expedia team is seeking a highly collaborative Salesforce Engineer to join our team. This is a “wear-many-hats” role responsible for designing and configuring solutions in and around Salesforce, with hands-on development and administration, and technically lead the project.

In this role you will:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure Salesforce solutions, services, integrations, and platform components that support Expedia Group products and business operations.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, administrators, analysts, and engineers to translate business requirements into robust Salesforce designs, including low-level design, API and integration design, data models, automation, and platform configuration.
  • Lead the implementation of maintainable Salesforce code, declarative capabilities, integrations, automated tests, and tooling that improve reliability, observability, security, data quality, and operational excellence.
  • Drive code reviews, design reviews, technical discussions, and solution assessments across Salesforce services and adjacent domains, identifying opportunities to simplify solutions, reduce technical debt, and improve performance, scalability, and quality.
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Salesforce features and services, including development, testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, release management, and continuous improvement.
  • Work across Salesforce, application, data, cloud, and platform domains as needed, demonstrating familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows; applying AI/ML concepts to real-world products; and safely integrating and operating AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a master’s degree.
  • Proven experience owning complex software systems end to end, including system design, API design, data modeling, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce development, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL/SOSL, Salesforce security concepts, and governor-limit-aware design.
  • Experience developing software in at least three programming or query languages, such as Apex, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL/SOQL, Java, or Python.
  • Proven experience owning Salesforce features, integrations, or services end-to-end, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, production support, and resolution of operational issues.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Salesforce development and configuration capabilities, at least one modern programming or scripting language and its ecosystem, and experience with low-level system design, API and integration design, data modeling, service-oriented architectures, and secure coding practices.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering and Salesforce fundamentals, including platform architecture, data access and security, identity and access management, automation, distributed systems concepts, integration patterns, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce certification such as Platform Developer II, Platform Developer I, Salesforce Administrator, or an equivalent specialization.
  • Experience with Salesforce Platform Events, Change Data Capture, asynchronous Apex, middleware, or event-driven integrations.
  • Experience with observability, service-level indicators and objectives, incident management, root-cause analysis, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience influencing technical direction across teams and communicating architecture or operational recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with data quality, data observability, data pipelines, data contracts, analytics systems, or related data-platform concepts.
