Introduction to the Team:

The Marketplace Health (MPH) organization supports services, processes, and data analytics that maximize positive outcomes in EG’s marketplace for both travelers and supply partners.
We are a group of product and engineering delivery teams situated in Expedia Marketplace (Design & Trust), focused on the health (the state of well-being, free from issues) and trust (firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something) of the Expedia travel marketplace.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain production-quality software services and applications using sound software engineering principles, including system design (low-level design), API design, and data modeling.

• Apply computer science fundamentals, data structures, and design patterns to write clean, modular, maintainable, and well‑named code, while testing and monitoring your own work for reliability and performance.

• Build and support software running in public or hybrid cloud environments, integrating with relevant data stores, APIs, and associated technologies within the broader ecosystem.

• Collaborate closely with a team of engineers and cross-functional partners to co-develop solutions, coordinate stakeholder input, and ensure that implemented features align with business needs and team goals.

• Analyze and debug moderately complex systems and services, identifying inefficiencies in existing implementations and contributing to incremental improvements in performance, reliability, and operability.

• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

Experience & Qualification:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.

• 2+ years of relevant professional experience.

• Experience developing and maintaining software in a team environment of at least 5 engineers, using agile practices, version control, and standard engineering workflows.

• Hands-on experience building and supporting production software in public or hybrid cloud environments, including working with at least one primary programming language, common data stores, and API access or integration patterns.

• Ability to understand how individual services and components fit within a moderately complex system, including ownership for the quality, testing, and basic monitoring of your code and services.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Depth in at least one programming language with the ability to work across multiple languages or stacks as needed, and experience contributing to the design of service contracts, APIs, and data models for production systems.

• Experience operating cloud-based services at scale, including monitoring, alerting, basic performance tuning, and participating in improving the reliability and efficiency of existing systems.

• Demonstrated ability to translate business or product requirements into technical designs, including low-level design for services, data schema design, and integration patterns across multiple components.

• Experience working with or integrating AI/ML‑enabled features or services into applications, safely leveraging AI tooling, SDKs, or APIs to enhance user experiences or system effectiveness.

• Familiarity with AI-driven development or operational workflows (such as using AI-assisted coding, testing, or observability tools) and a growing ability to apply AI/ML concepts to optimize or extend real world products.
