Principal Program Manager, VRBO

Introduction to the Team:

Expedia Group powers travel for everyone, everywhere. Vrbo is one of the world’s most loved travel brands and plays a central role in how families and groups discover the perfect place to stay. From mountain cabins to beachfront homes, Vrbo helps travelers find the space they need to connect, celebrate, and make memories together. As expectations for seamless, trusted vacation rentals continue to rise, delivering high-performing, reliable experiences requires deep coordination across product, technology, and business teams.

As a Principal Program Manager, you will operate at the intersection of strategy, product, and execution, helping shape how Vrbo delivers on this mission. You will strengthen the systems and rhythms that guide planning and delivery for Vrbo’s cross-functional work. Through close partnership with Product, Engineering, Design, Analytics, Marketing, and Operations, you will help teams translate strategy into execution so travelers and partners experience the trusted, high-quality Vrbo experience they expect—every time.

In This Role You Will:

  • Lead cross-functional programs that advance Vrbo’s top product and business priorities

  • Act as the Brand Product Leader’s key partner to deliver against Vrbo’s goals

  • Translate strategy and new opportunities into clear, actionable plans while maintaining tight alignment with the Brand Product Leader

  • Bring teams together across EG to achieve common goals, creating a culture of accountability and trust to work as one team to deliver results

  • Present strategic recommendations and updates to senior leadership across the Vrbo Business Unit, Product, Design, and Marketing

  • Proactively look ahead, seeking out opportunities and foreseeing issues before they happen

  • Connect risks, dependencies, and opportunities across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Analytics, Supply, and Operations

  • Represent a cohesive, well-structured point of view that elevates conversations from tasks to outcomes

  • Build operating rhythms, decision frameworks, and governance models that help teams work with clarity and speed

  • Create mechanisms that increase visibility and accountability without owning the content itself

  • Surface risks and cross-team impacts early and drive mitigation plans with accountable owners

  • Define program success measures and partner with analytics to track performance and inform tradeoffs

  • Influence ways of working across Vrbo and help teams adopt practices that improve speed, quality, and transparency

  • Partner with senior leaders across functions to drive alignment on decisions, priorities, and sequencing

  • Flex into critical workstreams when additional structure or focus is needed to unblock progress

  • Act as both a leader and mentor, sharing best practices and helping raise program management craft across Vrbo and other Expedia Group brands

  • Partner with Communications to support org-wide updates against Vrbo Product/Tech deliverables

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of program management, product operations, strategy, or technical delivery experience

  • Proven track record driving complex, multi-team programs in product or engineering organizations

  • Strong ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels

  • Skilled at building operating mechanisms and cross-functional workflows

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complexity for senior audiences

  • Experience leading planning cycles, managing dependencies, and navigating large-scale delivery

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in consumer technology, marketplaces, platform products, or travel

  • Familiarity with product development and design lifecycles and multi-team engineering environments

  • Experience improving cross-functional processes and operating models

  • Experience in high-pressure, ambiguous environments requiring high visibility, reliability, or customer impact

  • Experience utilizing enterprise planning, tracking, and reporting tools (Jira preferred)
