Introduction to the team

We are looking for a data savvy senior actuary with a love for innovation and deep knowledge of insurance/FinTech pricing, reserving & risk management to join the EG InsurTech team. In this role, you will lead product development, management and optimization of our FinTech portfolio. This is a highly analytical & partner facing role with the opportunity to make a significant impact on Expedia's revenues and interact with senior leadership. You will have a demonstrated ability to deliver results and exhibit excellent business judgment along with quantitative skills, a perfect mix of technical and non-technical skills.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform in a lead role on data analytics-focused projects where you will develop, evaluate, and deploy cutting-edge methods and models for travel insurance and related fintech products

  • Lead risk management & actuarial tasks such as valuation of products and liabilities and experience studies

  • Manage our reserving funds including working with external actuaries in partner insurance organizations as relevant

  • Provide actuarial inputs in pricing and claims throughout product life cycle

  • Build end-to-end design of actuarial process to provide scalable InsurTech product development and pricing support

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal and accounting requirements, which may be in accordance with both US and international standards

  • Understand and contribute to building analyses and predictive ML models in Python/R

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with our broader product team within a coding environment, while adhering to model development and maintenance best practices

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (STEM field) or equivalent experience

  • Broad knowledge of pricing and risk aspects of the Actuarial field

  • 7+ years of Actuarial/Analytical experience

  • 4+ years of project leadership

  • Experience leveraging traditional insurance and non-traditional data sets using SQL , Python & R

  • Experience conducting analyses in Excel and programming languages

  • Proficiency in common ML programming languages (Python, R, Spark…) and familiarity with ML algorithms

  • Experience building and deploying statistical machine-learning models, such as linear regression, logistic regression, GLM, GAM, etc

  • Experience interacting with senior management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or other relevant courses plus 7+ years of directly relevant actuarial experience and Associate or Fellow Actuary designation (FCAS/FSA/ACAS/ASA)

  • 7+ years experience working within the insurance or FinTech industry / claims experience

  • High level organizational and project management skills for handling multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner
