A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.
We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our Generative AI Platform team, a strategic, high-visibility platform that is responsible for enabling AI-powered experiences across the company. This leader will own the strategy, execution, and adoption of our GenAI platform ecosystem, including no-code/low-code tooling, SDKs, agent frameworks, governance, and enterprise-wide integrations.
This role is critical for accelerating innovation, driving employee productivity, and powering the next generation of traveler and partner experiences through Generative AI. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, platform-minded technologist who can balance rapid iteration with strong governance, and who can partner deeply across engineering, product, data, legal, and security.
In this role, you will:
Define the multi-year strategy and roadmap for the GenAI Platform
Drive a unified, scalable, vendor-agnostic architecture for LLM model access, prompt orchestration, knowledge retrieval, agent evaluations, agentic workflows, and enterprise integration
Partner with ML Platform, Data Platform, and Infra teams to ensure scale, efficiency, cost transparency, and operational excellence
Drive adoption through strong internal partnerships, enablement programs, documentation, templates, training, and best practices
Build a healthy ecosystem of reusable agents, tools, MCP servers, evaluation frameworks, and shared components used across the company
Enable measurable business outcomes in employee productivity, customer experience, and developer acceleration
Establish strategic partnerships with vendors and manage vendor contracts
Embed privacy, security, compliance, and Responsible AI controls into platform
Lead and grow a world-class engineering team focused on platform excellence
Build a culture of innovation, quality, ownership, and speed
Minimum Qualifications:
10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years leading managers and multiteam platform efforts (or equivalent), building cloud native, high scale ML/AI services and developer platforms
Proven track record driving cross-org initiatives; expert in roadmap planning, dependency management, and stakeholder alignment with Product and TPM partners
Deep understanding of LLMs, vector stores, retrieval, prompt engineering, agent frameworks (LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Strands, etc.), orchestration, agent evaluation and RAG
Depth in one or more: distributed systems, low latency services, model serving/inference, cloud cost optimization (AWS preferred)
Track record recruiting and developing diverse engineering talent and building inclusive, high-performance cultures
Exceptional communication and influence skills, translates technical strategy into measurable business impact at the executive level
Strong platform product thinking: you can turn ambiguous business needs into clear platform capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operationalizing Responsible AI controls (safety policies, content filtering, human-in-the-loop), privacy preserving data flows, and audited governance for model/feature access
Familiarity with GenAI evaluation (offline rubrics/LLM-as-a-judge, human feedback) and online A/B experimentation; experience with multi provider model routing and cost/perf tradeoffs
History partnering with Security, Legal/Privacy, and Risk to embed guardrails and auditability into platform workflows
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
