L’équipe responsable des affaires gouvernementales et commerciales joue un rôle essentiel dans la mission de l’entreprise en l’orientant dans le cadre complexe et dynamique des politiques en matière de voyages, de technologie et de commerce électronique. En établissant et en entretenant des relations solides avec les décideurs politiques élus et nommés, les organismes de réglementation, les associations professionnelles et les groupes partenaires, l’équipe des affaires gouvernementales et commerciales soutient la mission de l’entreprise par la mise en œuvre de solutions de politiques publiques réfléchies qui favorisent la croissance du secteur du voyage et du tourisme à travers le monde.
Le (la) gestionnaire principal(e) relève de la direction principale des affaires gouvernementales et commerciales pour l’Amérique du Nord au sein du service Expedia Legal and Corporate Affairs.
Dans ce rôle, vous aurez les responsabilités suivantes :
- Comprendre comment l’organisation fonctionne (c’est-à-dire le modèle d’affaires et les opérations, le rendement financier et les facteurs de succès clés).
- Déterminer les défis et les occasions liés à la réglementation et diriger les mesures à prendre en vous appuyant sur votre compréhension du contexte politique local, votre capacité à analyser et à élaborer des textes législatifs et des mémoires d’orientation, avec le soutien des équipes juridiques et fiscales, et d’autres équipes internes.
- Faire valoir et défendre les positions d’Expedia Group en matière de politique publique auprès des organes législatifs et exécutifs des administrations municipales, provinciales et fédérales.
- Diriger les relations avec les gouvernements et les ressources, y compris les équipes de lobbyistes locales et, le cas échéant, les contributions politiques, les commandites et les partenariats.
- Agir en tant que spécialiste des questions de politique et de défense des intérêts pour les équipes d’Expedia Group.
- Proposer, rédiger et fournir du matériel de communication, notamment des témoignages, des articles de blogue et d’autres contenus créatifs, en collaboration avec notre équipe responsable de la communication sur les politiques et de l’engagement communautaire, dans le respect des délais externes.
- Voyager, parfois avec un court préavis, afin de discuter directement avec les responsables locaux ou régionaux de questions législatives importantes.
Votre expérience et vos compétences :
- Expérience dans les domaines des politiques publiques, des médias et de la communication, ainsi que dans l’élaboration et la mise en œuvre de stratégies de défense des intérêts
- 3 ans ou plus d’expérience directe en lobbying, un atout
- Compréhension des processus et des structures des gouvernements municipaux, provinciaux et fédéraux du Canada
- Capacité à lire, comprendre et utiliser couramment le langage des politiques publiques
- Excellente capacité de communication écrite et orale, aptitude à collaborer efficacement avec les parties prenantes internes et externes afin de créer et de faire progresser des stratégies de lobbying et de défense des intérêts
- Capacité à hiérarchiser plusieurs projets complexes à différents stades de développement, souvent dans des délais serrés
- Expérience dans l’élaboration de stratégies créatives et efficaces pour relever des défis complexes en matière de communication et de législation
- Aisance à formuler des recommandations de haut niveau et à prendre des décisions stratégiques, ainsi qu’à communiquer ces recommandations à la direction de l’entreprise

Introduction to the Team
Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.
The Government and Corporate Affairs team plays a key role in the Company’s mission by navigating the complex and dynamic travel, technology, and eCommerce policy landscape. By building and leveraging strong relationships with elected and appointed policymakers and regulators, industry associations, and partner groups, the Government and Corporate Affairs team supports the Company’s mission through enactment of thoughtful public policy solutions that support the growth of the travel and tourism sector around the world.
The Senior Manager reports to the Senior Director of Government and Corporate Affairs for North America within the Expedia Legal and Corporate Affairs division.
In this role, you will:
- Understand how the organization does business (i.e., business model and operations, financial performance, and key success factors).
- Identify and lead response to regulatory challenges and opportunities drawing on your understanding of the local political environment, your ability to read and develop legislative language and policy memoranda with support from Legal, Tax and other internal teams.
- Lobby and advocate for Expedia Group’s public policy positions with legislative and executive bodies of municipal, provincial, and Federal government
- Lead government relations assets and resources including local contract lobby teams and, as available, political contributions, sponsorships, and partnerships.
- Serve as a policy and advocacy issue area expert for teams across Expedia Group.
- Propose, draft, and deliver communications material including testimony, blog posts, and other creative content alongside our Policy Communications and Grassroots Engagement team prior to external deadlines.
- Travel, sometimes with limited notice, to engage directly with local or state government officials on critical legislation.
Experience and Qualifications:
- You have experience in public policy, media and communications, and advocacy strategy development and implementation.
- Preferred: You have 3+ years of direct lobbying experience
- You understand Canadian municipal, provincial, and/or Federal government processes and structures.
- You read, understand, and communicate public policy language fluently.
- You are a strong written and verbal communicator who can work well with internal and external stakeholders to create and advance lobbying and advocacy strategies.
- You can prioritize multiple sophisticated projects in varying stages of development, often under a time constraint.
- You have built creative, effective strategies to address difficult communications and legislative challenges.
- You are comfortable making high-level recommendations and strategic decisions and communicating those recommendations to company leadership.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
