The Technical Internal Auditor supports the execution of technical risk management, compliance, and audit projects under the guidance of senior auditors and managers. This role focuses on learning and applying audit methodologies, assisting in risk assessments, and contributing to recommendations that strengthen internal controls and compliance. The position also builds foundational knowledge of technical risks, controls, compliance, and audit procedures to support Expedia Group’s mission and objectives.
In this role, you will:
- Assist in planning and executing technical audits and compliance reviews.
- Support risk assessment activities by gathering data and preparing preliminary analysis.
- Perform basic control testing under supervision and document results in electronic workpapers.
- Help prepare audit documentation, including process flowcharts, narratives, and risk/control matrices.
- Contribute to drafting audit observations and recommendations for review by senior auditors.
- Maintain accurate records of audit work and follow-up actions.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Learn and apply frameworks such as IIA, ITGC, and regulatory compliance standards (ISO, NIST, COBIT).
- Assist in preparing summary reports for management on audit results and risk-based assessments.
- Support development of mitigation strategies and remediation plans for audit findings.
- Participate in training and knowledge-sharing sessions to build technical audit expertise.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 2–5 years in internal audit, risk assurance, or related technical field, or information security domain.
- MBA in IT or MBA in Information Security, OR Engineering degree in Computer Science with Information Security as an elective subject.
- Basic understanding of IT General Controls, cybersecurity, cloud operations, data governance, and privacy compliance.
- Familiarity with audit tools or GRC systems is a plus.
- Exposure to cloud technologies and certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP) or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals are a strong plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Interest in pursuing certifications such as CIA, CISA, CCSK, or similar.
- Learning Orientation, attention to detail, collaboration and adaptability.
