Introduction to the Team
Our Supply and Marketplace division powers Expedia Group’s ability to source the best possible inventory and content from our partners—delivering competitive prices, superior customer experiences, and fair marketplace transactions.
Within this division, the Supply Coaching Foundation (Scout Team) focuses on empowering partners by providing them with data-driven, ML-powered insights and recommended actions that maximize their business outcomes. We compute, organize, and stream partner recommendations, continuously tracking engagement to learn and evolve.
Our team operates at the intersection of Machine Learning science, engineering, and operations, working in a fast-paced Agile environment to build production-grade ML systems that directly influence Expedia’s global partner ecosystem.
What You’ll Do
Own the end-to-end ML lifecycle — from data exploration, feature engineering, and model training to evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement in production environments.
Design and implement scalable ML and AI systems — including both batch and real-time pipelines — leveraging cloud infrastructure.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Machine Learning Scientists, Data Engineers, and Platform teams to develop, deploy, and operationalize models across the Expedia marketplace.
Prototype and productionize ML solutions, developing minimum viable products and iteratively enhancing them for scale, reliability, and impact.
Integrate traditional ML and Generative AI approaches into partner-facing recommendation systems and internal data-driven tools.
Implement and optimize MLOps practices for reproducibility, CI/CD, feature store management, model versioning, and model monitoring.
Review and mentor peers and junior engineers/scientists, ensuring code and model quality across the team.
Document and communicate technical designs and best practices to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Continuously monitor, maintain, and improve ML systems, ensuring high availability and service excellence post-deployment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
3+ years of hands-on experience in software or machine learning engineering (or 2+ years with a Master's degree).
Strong programming experience in Python and demonstrated experience with the ML lifecycle (e.g., feature engineering, model evaluation, deployment).
Knowledge of MLOps tooling, including ML orchestration (e.g., Airflow), CI/CD, model registries, and feature stores.
Proficiency with SQL or NoSQL databases and experience working with cloud services (e.g., AWS).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Generative AI and LLM-based workflows.
Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hive, or Databricks.
Understanding of object-oriented analysis & design (OOAD), design patterns, and distributed systems architecture.
Familiarity with Scala and experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
