Manager, Sourcing Operations (Team Lead) Prague
Expedia Group – Global Procurement
Expedia Group’s Global Procurement organization, part of the broader Finance team, is seeking a Manager, Sourcing Operations, to lead and support its growing Sourcing Operations team. This role will oversee a team of Sourcing Analysts, serving as a working manager who not only guides and develops the team but also actively participates in sourcing operations and procurement activities.
This role requires a leader with strong sourcing and procurement expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to balance people management with hands-on execution. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment and helps elevate the team’s impact.
By building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, you will drive operational excellence, ensure the efficient triage of procurement requests, and elevate the team’s ability to deliver value. This is a hands-on leadership role that balances people management, process ownership, and direct contribution to sourcing execution.
In this role you will:
Team Leadership & People Development
- Provide day-to-day supervision, leadership, coaching, and development for a team of Sourcing Analysts at various experience levels. This includes setting clear goals, conducting regular 1:1s, providing mentorship, and conducting performance reviews.
- Oversee workload allocation, project prioritization, and performance management for the team.
- Allocate work by complexity and analyst level; set and manage SLAs, prioritize the queue, and ensure consistent quality of deliverables.
- Build team capability through training, playbooks, and shadowing; guide juniors to proficiency and stretch seniors on complex work.
- Hire and onboard new team members as needed; foster a collaborative and high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement and stakeholder engagement.
- Recognize and celebrate team successes while supporting individual development opportunities.
Intake Triage & Operations Management
- Own the Procurement Intake process, ensuring timely triage, complete and accurate project scoping, and proper routing.
- Maintain the intake backlog; monitor progress, resolve blockers, and communicate status and ETAs to stakeholders.
- Establish and refine SOPs for intake, developing process documentation to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Contracting & Sourcing Execution
- Act as a working manager, supporting execution across a mixed portfolio (MSAs, FSAs, SOWs, amendments, terminations, and other contract types), with a focus on corporate professional services spend.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial terms of purchasing and service agreements in collaboration with Legal and other stakeholders.
- Execute a portfolio of projects ranging from high-value initiatives to transactional contracts.
- Create, communicate, and deliver project work plans and timelines, identifying dependencies, risks, and barriers.
- Ensure adherence to procurement policy and contracting standards.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Management
- Serve as the primary escalation point for business partners; set expectations, manage trade-offs, and communicate project status.
- Partner with Legal, Tax, Information Security, Finance, and Category Managers and others to de-risk and accelerate deals across brands and geographies.
- Support stakeholders in gathering complete and accurate project information (e.g., specifications, timing, challenges).
Analytics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Define and track KPIs (e.g., intake SLA, cycle time, savings/value, compliance, CSAT) and provide insights to leadership.
- Identify spend channeling opportunities and funnel them to category teams for more strategic sourcing solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize sourcing processes, tools, and reporting practices.
- Conduct analysis and coordinate cross-functional participation to improve procurement effectiveness.
Experience and Qualifications
- A Positive, “can-do” collaborative leader who can inspire, mentor, and guide a diverse team.
- A hands-on practitioner who is equally comfortable managing people and executing procurement activities.
- Strong understanding of procurement and strategic sourcing practices, ideally with exposure to marketing and corporate professional services categories.
- Skilled in contract drafting, negotiation, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement/management.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Skilled communicator who can influence and build relationships across a sophisticated, global matrix.
- Comfortable managing multiple opposing priorities and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Champions collaboration, continuous improvement, and change adoption.
- 5+ years of experience in global corporate indirect procurement/strategic sourcing, with a mix of transactional and strategic work.
- 2+ years managing teams in a customer service or sourcing environment, demonstrating strong leadership and people development skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, supply chain, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience managing indirect procurement activities with a mix of transactional and strategic sourcing.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with procurement and contract management tools preferred.
- Proven track record of working in a global, fast-paced, highly matrixed organization.
