About Team:

The Data Visualisation team at Expedia is responsible for providing clarity, and ease of understanding of insights. We work with multiple teams across Expedia. Understanding where our customers come from, their experiences, partnering with product, finance, marketing and design to name a few of the areas we worked on in the last year alone.
We believe that visualisation is more than creating charts and dashboards. We have been on a journey, to provide Expedia Group with a platform that brings insights together across our brands and allows for an understanding of performance. As well as building key capabilities in monitoring of data pipeline health and anomaly detection.
A Data Visualisation Engineer is someone that is equally passioned about data quality, availability, a good user experience (UX) aided by a clean and effective user interface (UI). We build data visualisation applications that Product Managers, Analysts, decision makers use to help us in the goal to make Expedia Group the world’s travel platform.
As a senior member of the Expedia Group Data Visualisation team, the Data Visualisation Engineer III will play a critical role in shaping our data visualisation strategy, leading the development of innovative solutions, and influencing how insights are consumed across the organisation.

What you will do

  • Lead the design and development of advanced visualisation products that improve analytical capabilities and drive business decision-making at scale

  • Solve complex data and design challenges, transforming ambiguity into clear, intuitive and impactful visual stories

  • Introduce and implement new frameworks, tools and practices that improve performance, scalability and reusability of visualisation solutions

  • Partner with senior stakeholders across multiple functions to translate business needs into well-defined analytical and visualisation requirements

  • Drive the adoption of design thinking principles across teams, coaching peers on how to approach data products with a customer-first mindset

  • Anticipate future needs by identifying opportunities for automation, anomaly detection and proactive insight delivery

  • Mentor and guide other engineers, setting standards for best practices in design, development and stakeholder engagement

Who you are?

  • An experienced (4+ years) analytics engineer, BI developer or data visualisation specialist with a proven track record of delivering high-impact solutions

  • Comfortable leading projects end-to-end, managing scope, timelines and trade-offs while influencing stakeholders at multiple levels

  • Deep expertise in Tableau, including advanced Level of Detail calculations, performance optimisation and the creation of scalable design systems for dashboards

  • Skilled in prototyping and design using Figma or similar tools, with a strong understanding of product development processes

  • Exceptional at storytelling with data, combining technical depth with clarity and design precision

  • Advanced SQL practitioner, able to design, optimise and transform data models to serve business-critical insights. Experience with ETL and data engineering tools is a strong advantage

  • Naturally curious and innovative, always exploring new technologies such as D3.js, Python, Spark or emerging BI platforms, and eager to bring them into practice where they add value
