Expedia Group’s Information Security and IT team powers the core infrastructure, resilience, and security foundations that keep our global travel platform running. We ensure our travelers, partners, and employees experience seamless, secure, and reliable technology every day. The Principal/Director of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Resilience will be a senior leader shaping how Expedia Group protects its operations and travelers against disruption. You will guide the transformation of enterprise-wide BCDR programs across technology, cyber, workforce, facilities, and third-party domains. Your expertise will drive audit readiness (ISO 22301, NIST 800-34, SOC2), operational resilience, and real-world crisis preparedness. In this role, you will:
Lead enterprise-wide BCDR transformation across all critical domains: technology, cyber, workforce, real estate, facility, and third-party
Design and implement business continuity frameworks and testing strategies aligned to ISO 22301, NIST, SOC2, and regulatory requirements
Serve as single-threaded owner for operational resilience, including governance, playbooks, testing cadence, and program KPIs
Partner with engineering, platform, and security teams to embed resilience by design, including immutable backup validation and CI/CD integration
Govern and execute business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis response plans, running tabletop and live disaster simulations with Security, IT, Facilities, HR, and Legal
Conduct risk assessments, business impact analyses (BIA), and dependency mapping across applications, infrastructure, and operations to establish accountability across mission-critical apps
Advise senior leadership on major incident preparedness, cyber-resilience, and compliance readiness
Minimum Qualifications:
You have 15+ years of experience in Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Operational Resilience, or related discipline
You have proven success building and leading enterprise-wide BCDR programs in large-scale, real-time environments (preferably eCommerce)
You have deep technical knowledge of distributed system architectures, backup/restore mechanisms, dependency mapping, and recovery testing
You bring experience across technical and non-technical continuity practices, including cloud, hybrid infrastructure, workforce, real estate, and supply chain resilience
You are fluent in external compliance and audit frameworks (ISO 22301, NIST 800-34, SOC2, GDPR) and skilled in preparing evidence for assessments
Education requirement: You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
Preferred Qualifications:
You are a strong communicator and influencer, comfortable engaging with engineers, security, compliance, and executive leadership
You are skilled at leading tabletop and live recovery simulations and building governance frameworks that embed resilience culture
Having relevant certifications (CBCP, ISO Lead Implementer, or equivalent) are highly desirable
Please note that this role is only available in the following locations: San Jose, Austin, Chicago, or Seattle, in alignment with our flexible work model which requires employees to be in-office at least three days a week. Relocation assistance will be considered for candidates relocating to these locations for this role.
The total cash range for this position in San Jose is $214,000 to $299,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $342,500, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $321,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. The total cash range for this position in Austin is $201,000.00 to $281,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $321,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
