The Expedia Group Advertising Publisher team builds and operates the systems that deliver sponsored content experiences across Expedia Group’s traveler-facing brands and partners. We focus on ad delivery, template rendering, observability, and platform reliability to ensure high-quality, performant, and scalable ad products. Our team works on a wide range of ad products to enabling partners to reach travelers seamlessly while maintaining user trust and site performance.

Business Contribution/Impact:

Our work directly drives advertising revenue for Expedia Group by ensuring ads are reliable, engaging, and optimized at scale. We continuously run test-and-learn initiatives to further enhance traveler experiences. We also play a key role in enabling advertisers success while improving the overall traveler journey and contributing to conversion rate growth.

What you’ll do:

• You will team up with peers across the organization to build an understanding of cross dependencies and shared problem solving.

• You will seek new technical skills in an engineering area.
• You will share new skills and knowledge with team to increase effectiveness.

• You will understand the relationship between applications, databases and technology platforms.

• You will develop and test complex or non-routine software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements.
• You will write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions. You will also use software frameworks to write simpler code.
• You will solve data requirements by applying your knowledge of databases and database design principles to solve data requirements.
• You will lead/clarify code evolution in code reviews.

• You will coordinate bringing together different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop solutions to issues and contributes own suggestions.

• You will identify opportunities around policies/ processes to increase efficiency across organizational boundaries.
• You will assist with a whole systems approach to analyzing issues by ensuring all components (structure, people, process and technology) are identified and accounted for.

• You will spot areas of inefficiency in code or systems operation and offer suggestions for improvements.
• You will compile and generate reports on major operational or technical initiatives (like RCAs) to larger groups, whether via written or oral means.

Who you are: ​

• Bachelor's degree or Masters in a related Technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
• Prior experience as a Software Engineer mentoring junior engineers and applying new engineering principles to improve existing systems including leading complex, well defined projects.
• Equivalent experience includes:
  • Developed software in at least 3 different languages
  • Maintained/ran at least 4 software project/product in production environments (bug fixing, troubleshooting, monitoring etc.)

• You have 5+ years of professional software development experience with strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g Java, Kotlin or Node.js).
• You understand distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native applications, with a focus on reliability and resiliency.
• You understand large-scale, high-traffic platforms, and can translate business objectives (revenue, engagement, compliance) into scalable technical solutions.
• You are comfortable working with GraphQL APIs or React to deliver user experiences.
• You apply advanced software design principles, system architecture patterns to solve complex requirements.
• You are skilled in observability practices (Datadog, Splunk, monitoring and alerting) and can drive operational excellence across multiple systems.
• You take ownership of technical delivery for complex initiatives, proactively identify gaps, and propose innovative solutions that improve ad performance and traveler experience.
• You mentor less senior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, code quality, and technical growth within the team.
• You influence technical decisions beyond your immediate team, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Data, Ops, Partner Engineering) to deliver impactful outcomes.
• You communicate effectively across levels of the organization, tailoring technical and business discussions to audiences ranging from engineers to leadership.
• Bonus: You have prior experience with ad delivery platforms.
