Senior Software Development Engineer

We're seeking a high performing and influential individual contributor who leads by example while continuing to mentor junior engineers, interfaces consistently with tech leadership in the local organization, leads complex and vaguely-defined projects, and stretches into team leadership skills based on current projects.


In this role you will:

  • Collaborate across teams and lead communities of practice to foster shared learning and cross-functional alignment.

  • Guide junior engineers and occasionally step into leadership roles, supporting team growth and continuity.

  • Design, test, and maintain integrated software solutions that align with business goals and technical best practices.

  • Advocate for software design excellence, including the use of architectural patterns, frameworks, and operational standards like testing and SLAs.

  • Analyze and improve systems holistically, applying systems thinking to optimize processes, technology, and team structures.

  • Communicate complex project updates and technical insights to leadership, ensuring transparency and thorough documentation.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience in software development or equivalent professional experience.

  • Led end-to-end technical design and delivery of multiple multi-quarter projects, often within decentralized teams.

  • Demonstrated leadership through formal mentorship, community contributions (e.g., blog posts, open source, tech talks), and cross-team collaboration.

  • Deep expertise in multiple technologies or languages, with the ability to justify technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Skilled in designing and guiding testable, observable, and high-quality systems, including establishing operational excellence metrics at the team level.

  • Strong understanding of business needs, with a track record of identifying and solving team-level technical and organizational challenges.


The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
