We are looking for a Data Engineer who will drive the innovation and scale of the advertising data platform for Expedia Group Media Solutions. As a member of this team, you will work on building and maintaining realtime and batch data pipelines that maintain customer facing datasets powering Advertiser Facing Reporting.

Role Summary
A supporting-level team member who is well-versed in basic principles of software engineering and work as a supporting player on complex projects and engages in discussion of new topics and feel empowered to challenge the status quo.


Experience
0-2 years

Education

• Bachelor's or equivalent experience. Technical degree preferred.
• Built at least 3 software projects by themselves.

Functional/ Technical Skills
• Has moderate strength in at least one language like Scala, Spark, or SQL/Python.
• Understands data patterns and storage.
• Understands software development theory and design.
• Understands how functions created fit into team projects.
• Understands lower complexity systems.
• Has a basic understanding of testing and monitoring
• Debugs code.
• Basic understanding of how team`s goals fit a business need.

• Collaborates with team members to co-develop and solve problems.
• Proactively reaches out to meet peers across environment and collaborates to solve problems.
• Takes advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area.
• Seeks knowledge from subject matter experts when needed.

• Develops and tests standard software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements.
• Apply software design principles, data structures, algorithms and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions.
• Learns to think broadly and understand how, why and when policies/processes are standardized and when they differ across the organization.
• Completes tasks and/or provides data to support implementation of holistic solutions that forge linkages between structure, people, process and technology.
• Applies formal training methods to current workload. Feels comfortable challenging authority/the status quo.
• Reports clearly on current work status.
• Asks challenging questions when empowered to do so.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $87,500.00 to $122,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $140,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
