Introduction to the team

Expedia Group’s Global Marketing Communications team is dedicated to developing and executing innovative and effective global marketing across our family of brands. Within this organization, the Business Affairs team is responsible in supporting the Marketing Communications efforts across film, digital, print, photo, event production and agency relationships. Today the majority of our work sits with agency partners, however, going forward it will be a mix of external and internal resources.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Business Affairs manager. An enthusiastic person who can contribute to a team environment and wants to be part of an evolving organization. In this role, you will report into the Director of Business Affairs and you will play a critical role as a Business Affairs lead to help manage our most important creative opportunities and challenges. You are proactive and collaborative with a focus on bringing manageable solutions to support the creative vision. The role requires a deep understanding of advertising best practices, to help us achieve our marketing communications goals.

This position requires an extremely organized and detail-oriented thinker. Someone who is ambitious, who thinks one step ahead, can see around the corner, and the ability to adjust to frequent changes in a fast-paced and developing environment. Flexibility and problem-solving skills are critical.

In this role you will;

  • Be the Business Affairs lead across several projects at a time

  • Advise on Business Affairs matters, including, but not limited to: SOW’s, Negotiations, Contracts, Licensing, Usage, Commercial best practices, Terms and Conditions, Union vs Non-Union, NDA process

  • Review, negotiate and advise across various types of content, while communicating potential risk and legal considerations to cross-functional leads

  • Provide guidance and risk assessment across full lifecycle of creative development, from concept through delivery

  • Think both Global and Regional, with a deep understanding of international and localization best practices, reviewing the advertising nuances within each market

  • Ensure compliance with contract processes, including various agreements, releases & NDA’s

  • Work directly with our sponsorships and partnerships team in reviewing and providing guidance within contractual oversight

  • Work with Director of BA to optimize our current process with the ability to explore, identify and implement new models across brands

  • Creative, Brand and Production fluency, comfortability understanding complex briefs, while identifying business and legal considerations

  • Foster relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure we’re delivering against brief, mitigating risk, and creating an environment delivering innovation

  • Be a strong culture role model, leading by example, and further delivering against Expedia’s principles

  • Guide and supervise Business Affairs Manager in day-to-day project work

Experience and Qualifications;

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience across agency or in-house

  • Demonstrated skills in common marketing legal considerations, licensing & talent agreements

  • You have excellent negotiation skill, partnering with internal and external partners in delivering value for the business

  • You thrive in solving business problems, and have extensive experience across advertising, legal and risk related issues

  • You have a thorough understanding across all different disciplines within a Marketing Communications Org; Brand, Creative, Media, Strategy, Production, Operations, Studio, Legal, etc

  • You approach ambiguity with flexibility, always providing solutions when faced with challenges

  • You are highly organized. You are proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable. You can think strategically and solve problems independently

  • Strong communication skills, you will partner and build relationships with key stakeholders on the cross functional team in delivering best in-class creative

The total cash range for this position in West Hollywood is $110,500.00 to $155,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $177,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
