Senior Director, People Program Management Office (PMO)
Introduction to Team:
Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.
Role Summary:
As the Senior Director of the PMO for the People Organization at Expedia Group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing strategic initiatives that drive organizational rigor and success. Reporting to the VP People Strategy, Analytics and Portfolio Management, you will collaborate closely with the People Leadership Team to develop and align the People Org's strategic roadmap with the overarching goals of the organization. With a focus on creating a robust Portfolio Management process and policy, you will ensure strategic projects are delivered on time and within budget while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and agility. You are a strategic thinker and effective communicator who can navigate complexities, unite cross-functional teams, and drive impactful change within the organization.
In this role, you will:
Portfolio Management and Leadership:
- Partner with the People Leadership Team (PLT) and key stakeholders to align and execute strategic initiatives that support organizational objectives.
- Create an end-to-end Portfolio Management process that fosters continuous improvement.
- Maintain and oversee the People Org's strategic roadmap, ensuring adherence to established deadlines and resource allocation.
- Monitors resource usage across portfolio, identifying areas or synergy or redundancy and looking for ways to optimize efficiency.
- Oversee multiple projects within the portfolio and manage a team of project managers (total team size of 8-10).
- Ensure a comprehensive go-to-market strategy is in place and effectively executed by all teams developing launch plans.
- Establish a common PMO communications strategy for visibility and alignment across the organization
- Implement PMO best practices in accordance with Agile methodologies.
Policy and Governance
- Define prioritization criteria and process and resource management strategies for the People Org portfolio.
- Define and monitor success metrics to evaluate progress and alignment with portfolio value.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and respond to risk issues that may hinder portfolio delivery
- Establish and lead a centralized HR policy management function, ensuring global consistency, compliance and accessibility of HR policies across the organization
- Define policy governance processes, including the creation, review approval and version control and retirement
- Deliver transparent summaries and status reports on strategic initiatives to key stakeholders, detailing dependencies, risks, and deliverables.
Process Management and Optimization:
- Lead enterpriser wide process optimization initiatives to improve operational efficiency, scalability and cross functional alignment
- Define and implement governance frameworks, tools and technologies that enable process standardization and continuous improvement
- Embed process thinking into the broader portfolio management and strategic planning cadence
- Culture a culture of continuous improvement across the people org by coaching teams in lean methodologies, process mapping and optimization best practices.
Experience and qualifications:
- 10+ years’ experience and proven track record leading a PMO preferably in an HR or Technology environment.
- Strong strategic planning capabilities with an ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of Agile best practices and experience in implementing them within an organizational framework.
- Proficient in project management tools and software (e.g., Smart sheets, Jira, Trello, etc) to streamline processes, enhance collaboration, and deliver successful project outcomes.
- Strong analytical mindset with a focus on measuring outcomes and driving continuous improvement.
- Experienced team leader (to both managers and individual contributors), fostering collaboration and motivation among diverse teams.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
