In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape social-forward campaigns for two of the biggest names in the travel industry, Expedia, and say you’re one of the people running their social accounts in APAC. You’ll engage with a passionate and diverse audience, while also crafting social strategies and content that inspire conversations, and generate buzz across social platforms.

We’re looking for someone who will take the lead on social strategy for our biggest campaigns in APAC. You are someone who knows the social media landscape and understands how to connect with modern, diverse travelers — especially the nuances of Japanese and Korean-speaking audiences. Not only do you know how they consume content, but you also understand what matters most to them. You’re ready to translate cultural knowledge into bold, fresh ideas that elevate our social strategy and push both Expedia toward innovative campaigns that resonate across every audience segment.

As a key member of our team, you will serve as a creative catalyst, developing strategies that inspire brand love, promote inclusivity, and elevate Expedia’s presence in the travel industry. You’ll collaborate with award-winning creative teams and social agencies to produce best-in-class, groundbreaking ideas that drive results.

The ideal candidate is someone who believes comfort is the enemy of progress and has the creative courage to take risks, test new ideas, fail fast, and succeed even faster. Fluent in both Japanese and English, you’ll use your language skills to connect authentically with audiences across multiple markets and create truly local content.

In this role, you will:

Oversee the social strategy and creative for some of our most impactful campaigns, spanning multicultural, digital, and value-driven initiatives in APAC. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as the social expert within our global communication team's campaigns
  • Craft breakthrough social strategy and content for PR-led activations and campaigns, with a sharp eye for cultural nuances.
  • Advocate for creative excellence and push the cross-functional team to innovate across new platforms, tap into emerging subcultures, and be first to market.
  • Work cross-functionally with creative agencies to develop fan-driven creative platforms and content adaptations for multicultural audiences.
  • Lead the charge in measuring social’s business impact and evaluating social engagement to apply insights to future campaigns.
  • Develop SEO-focused content and stay ahead of social media algorithms to ensure maximum visibility and engagement.
  • Collaborate with creators and influencers to generate authentic content that resonates with our audience and drives brand engagement

Experience and qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in social media marketing, with a proven track record of success in a content strategist role
  • Fluency in English and Japanese, Korean is a plus
  • Experience in working on a global team with demonstrated experience across multiple regions preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of major social media platforms and best practices, including paid boosting advertising strategies, and campaign and community management
  • Strategic and creative thinking. Able to source out-of-the-box ideas and creator partnerships
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting tools, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies
  • Familiarity with tools like Sprinklr, Microsoft SharePoint, and Keynote a plus
  • Inherent understanding of Internet culture, social demographics, how to build community, and know how to show up on social in an authentic way
  • Passion for travel and the tourism industry, with a keen understanding of regional and local market social landscapes
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Can overcome roadblocks and take a solution-oriented approach when met with a challenge
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute complex plans
  • Experience with influencer marketing, particularly within the travel industry a plus
