Metadata Engineer III
Data is a key component of Expedia’s travel platform. To unlock the full potential of Expedia’s data we are building capabilities that will enable consistent and trusted data exchange across the enterprise. Enterprise Data Management and Governance organization is looking for a Metadata Analyst III to help define and deliver data management capabilities that will bring this vision into reality. You will have an opportunity to acquire vast knowledge of our data ecosystem by working together with diverse global teams, spanning technical functions, like data producers and consumers, to business functions, like marketing, finance, customer experience, and legal.
What you will do:
Execute the vision, strategy and roadmaps for data management products that enforce Expedia’s data standards and ensure single source of truth and data integrity for reporting and decision making.
Advance the metadata strategy by curating and publishing various business and domain events metadata.
Enable data lineage collection and visualization at various granularities to be able to provide insights on the data flows between the various producers and consumers of data.
Enrich the curated contents by tagging the various data elements with the appropriate security and privacy classification to enable the implementation of GDPR and CCPA.
Own business outcomes and be responsible for hitting associated targets by improving, re-imagining, challenging status quo, and leading change.
Work across Expedia Group (data producers and consumers) to evangelize and apply data management practices to ensure data is being used in the most effective way to drive value creation.
Perform industry research to evolve strategy, policy, and process.
Collibra DIP – understanding architecture, content organization, and content governance
Build technical extractors to bring data sources into Collibra DIP
Build custom workflows in Collibra DIP
Who you are:
6+ year experience in the data management space, specifically in the metadata curation
Intermediate to advanced Python skills
Collibra DIP experience required, including workflow development
Advanced SQL skills
Understanding of data lineage implementation in Collibra DIP
Understanding of data management strategies for large scale organizations.
Knowledge about master data management and data governance practices and processes at-scale.
Experience with metadata, data quality and data governance concepts.
Expertise in eliciting and documenting features & requirements from both business and technical teams.
Strategic perspective and ability to think through big-picture issues coupled with excellent execution to get things done in a fast-paced, environment
Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey sophisticated and abstract concepts to both technical and business teams
Influencing skills, including experience working within a large matrix organization
Collaboration, business insight, and customer advocacy skills
BA/BS or equivalent experience in a STEM degree
