Software Development Engineer II

Our Contracting domain team is searching for a software engineer to contribute to our domain services and web user experiences.

The team’s mission is to deliver exceptional user experiences to our supply partners, enabling them to sign up and participate in the Expedia Group marketplace. The software we are developing captures agreements between Expedia Group and our partners and is used by other feature domains to validate their transactions against the stored agreements.

What you’ll do:

• Work collaboratively within the Contracting team and other partners to build and ship partner-facing features in a rapidly moving and dynamic environment

• Use your creativity, engineering skills and technical knowledge to deliver value and improvements iteratively and efficiently

• Ensure that visual design is meticulously up to spec and using the best browser-based web app technology for a truly outstanding experience

• Keep a strong eye for the operational aspects of the platform such as deployment, performance tuning and monitoring. Providing support and maintenance for these applications.

• Display a quality approach to unit testing, code review, and integration testing.

• You will continuously seek and learn new technical skills in an engineering area.

• You feel comfortable challenging authority/the status quo.

Who are you:

• Bachelor's degree or Masters in Computer Science & Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.

• 2+ years of software development experience in web application development

• Strong proficiency in React, javascript and ES6 node/Express.js.

• Some experience developing with other languages such as Java or Kotlin.

• Knowledge of testing frameworks and CSS pre-processors such as Jest and SASS.

• Worked with or knowledge of Apollo/GraphQL.

• Familiarity with AWS and automated application deployment.

• Have an understanding of testing and monitoring tools (like Grafana, Splunk, Datadog, etc.).

• Able to test, debug and monitor your code.

• Able to collaborate and get results in a complex cross-disciplinary working environment.

• Value team diversity, communicate with empathy and act humbly.

• Work best in a team environment and is passionate about getting things done
