Customer Engagement Marketing Manager

Expedia is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Customer Engagement Marketing Manager to join our dynamic team. As Customer Engagement Marketing Manager, you will work as part of a team that delivers customer communications strategies for core brands and drives customer engagement from the very first interaction.


The role requires a blend of strong technical, commercial and communication skills to enable the right person to extract insights from large and varied data sources and demonstrate how the insight can be used to improve business performance. In addition, using your influencing and relationship-building skills, you will help own the communication and relationships with internal customers.

What you'll do:

  • Work to understand how to use customer knowledge across the organization that enables seamless traveler interactions, keeping travelers engaged within our brands

  • Work across functions with Analytics and Marketing optimization teams to build a view into our traveler health and the impacts on the business, identifying trends for the business to shift and act on

  • Partnering with Engineering & Technology teams on issues with data and conduct root cause analysis and present/share findings

  • Build a view around CRM/outbound channel database health to identify risk areas and close capability gaps with our Product, Tech and Engineering teams

  • Understand and add insights into the performance of different results, measuring and analyzing the effectiveness of campaigns, including engagement and conversion metrics, and how they impact the relevant channel

  • Act as a business partner with Technology teams to ensure current projects and priorities are aligned with the wider team’s marketing initiatives

  • Be proactive and find opportunities that the team can go after to improve the email and push channel's and make a difference to the bottom line

  • Create and manage reports to help marketing managers self serve so we can monitor our database and campaigns quickly, effectively and accurately

  • Use traveler knowledge to support creation of traveler-led segmentation strategy and frameworks, that drive engagement actions from travelers

  • Become a Subject Matter Expert in your defined focus area

Who you are:

  • You bring excellent quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills and an ability to translate metrics, research and trends into viable strategies

  • Strong commercial competence and the ability to simplify and communicate sophisticated concepts concisely and clearly

  • You will have experience with Tableau, Querybook (or equivalent), SQL, Jira, Confluence, Excel, data investigations/analysis, project management and CRM

  • Strong attention to detail, while being able to balance multiple responsibilities and partners

  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and find creative solutions when faced with limitations

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $110,500 to $155,000. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $177,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
