Strategic Initiatives Manager
Expedia's Product & Technology Division Strategy team is looking for a Strategy Manager to help us enable amazing experiences for our travelers and partners & craft our strategy for the future. Do you want to help people go places? Come travel with us!
In this role, you will bring skills in critical thinking, structuring/solving ambiguous problems, data analysis, competitive/market analysis, business case development, and executive storytelling to help us solve the next generation of online travel challenges. Sitting within the Product & Technology organization, this role works with our Engineering & Technology teams, helping them develop the most effective capabilities that underpin our most compelling traveler and partner propositions – both in the present and in the future.
The Platform Strategy team works with local and global teams to set strategy and drive business goals. You will play a key role in leading division-wide, multi-disciplinary projects, working with colleagues across Product, Technology, Marketing, Analytics, and Finance. We will help you grow as a problem solver, relationship builder, and communicator with skills to drive projects successfully across a broad range of topics and personalities.
What You Will Do
Help craft and deliver strategic plans and resulting roadmaps using data, imagination, and understanding of our capabilities and what we need with respect to our ambitions and our market and competitive context.
Tackle complex business challenges, supporting the definition, planning, and execution of strategic initiatives, driving the business forward
Establish relationships with senior internal partners in the Product & Technology division
Manage complex webs of stakeholders, often with strongly held, differing opinions
Drive decision-making and alignment by working directly with leaders across Expedia Group
Closely track technology & travel trends, and competitive landscape to inform long-term technology and platform strategy; serve as a subject matter expert
In partnership with finance and planning, help allocate resources appropriately against key initiatives and estimate financial benefit & returns
Develop & run processes and tools that streamline our operating model & help extract insights about our performance
Partner with Product & Analytics teams to define, establish, and track highest priority initiatives through OKRs to ensure the business is continually optimised
Who You Are
3-5+ years experience at a top-tier strategy/management consulting firm, or equivalent tech product management, and/or corporate strategy experience
Great at taking gnarly, ambiguous problems, giving them structure, and systematically solving them
Deep experience driving alignment with executive teams that hold differing opinions
Bring a deep understanding of ecommerce, two-sided marketplaces, and/or travel businesses
Seasoned storyteller, builder of executive presentations, and are able to communicate complex concepts in a simple, highly structured, data-driven way
Seasoned builder of drivers-based financial models / business cases
Collaborative team member, experienced in building high performing teams, with peers and/or direct reports who want to work with you
Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate issues and influence others internally and externally.
Expert-level with PowerPoint and Excel

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
