Software Development Engineer II

Would you love working with a creative engineering team in building an intelligent, scalable platform?

The Travel Agent Affiliate Program (TAAP) team is focused on a multi-year effort to build best-in-class tools for travel advisors.

Major areas of our platform include lodging shopping, Checkout and trip management experience on top of the Expedia platform.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will work in a small, agile team to design, develop and maintain our TAAP product in a continuously integrated environment.

You will build automated regression tests, participate in peer code reviews, and provide estimates on work.

You will be asked to promote good development practices, execute superb software design, and contribute to a healthy culture.

What you will do:

Build and own shopping, booking & trip management experience including checkout, post booking processing and reporting

Participate in resolution of production issues Work with teams across Expedia Group to incorporate their services into our product Contribute to writing, refactoring, testing and perfecting code

Create API's to be consumed across the business unit. Craft clean code using design patterns and object-oriented concepts, to ensure code is highly maintainable

Understand how teams goals fit a business need

Identify business problems at the project level and provides solutions

Technologies we use: Java, Python, Kotlin, Javascript, React, AWS, GraphQL, REST, XML/ JSON, SQL, Spring, Docker, Datadog, Splunk

Who you are

Strong expertise in:

• Kotlin/Java

• messaging/queue systems

• SQL and NoSQL technologies

Experience with Web UI technologies including Javascript, Typescript, React.js, Webpack, HTML5, CSS and NodeJS

Experience working in AWS and continuous delivery practices

Ability to test, monitor, debug, and fix issues within established SLAs, using testing and monitoring tools

Able to design software that is easily testable and observable

Continually seek new technical skills in an engineering area

Comfortable working with several forms of technology

Compile and report on major operational or technical initiatives (like RCAs) to larger groups, whether via written or oral means
