Expedia's Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) is searching for a top-notch Software Development Engineer who will deliver on key initiatives, starting from the idea phase all the way through requirements definition, analysis, technical specifications, development, and product delivery. This is a highly visible role that requires an understanding of our large, complex technical environment and has the ability to create simple, sophisticated technical software/application solutions to complex problems and spilling across new tech space on Enterprise security and governance on multi-cloud.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with others on the project to brainstorm about the best way to tackle a complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problem, You will take advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area

  • Understand the importance of system and technology integration and the basic features and facilities involved in the integration process

  • Develop and test standard software applications and related programs and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements

  • Help coordinate stakeholder input and collaboration efforts when developing solutions to issues

  • Challenging questions when empowered to do so

  • Participates in architecture and software development activities

  • Uses open source technologies and tools to accomplish specific use cases encountered within the project

  • Uses coding languages or scripting methodologies to tackle a problem with a custom workflow

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a technical field or related field; or equivalent related professional experience

  • 3-5 years of professional Software Engineering experience

  • Developing software in a team environment of at least 4 engineers (agile, version control, etc.)

  • Building and maintaining a software project/product in production environments in public/hybrid cloud infrastructure

  • Development experience in at least one of the following languages: Python, Java etc.

  • Understanding how projects/teams interact with other teams

  • Able to understand and design moderately complex systems

  • Ability to test and supervise code at the project level

  • Experience using and handling a range of AWS services

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform & CloudFormation)

  • Have used build and continuous integration tools (Git, Jenkins, Docker, etc.)

  • Understanding of basic networking concepts and how to apply them to a Cloud-based environment

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $112,000.00 to $156,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $179,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
