Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering

Within the Core Services organization, CDFS Operations team enables EG and subsidiaries to manage their financial and Tax platforms globally while meeting statutory and financial regulatory compliance. This team delivers, collaborates and globally supports more than 10,000 businesses users of the enterprise financial platform.

What you'll do:

• Create a positive work environment based on accountability and inclusiveness, in partnership with peers on the leadership team. Lead by example, mentor the team, and establish credibility through quality technical execution.

• You will play a key role in the analysis, design, architecture, development and maintenance of cloud applications and services within EG’s Financial Systems’ AWS integration platform.

• You will actively collaborate with members of the larger Operations and Engineering teams to create and maintain efficient and scalable solutions.

• Build foundational tools that enable teams to operate their services safely and securely.

• Lead a team of Dev ops engineers to drive operational excellence (such as establishing SLAs, cost optimization, observability, resiliency and scalability) across financial systems platform.

• Lead a team of database administrators delivering engineering solutions and operational support for Oracle E Business Suite R12.1.x/R12.2.x, Oracle RAC/Exadata clusters, working on a variety of development and maintenance projects in coordination with project and support teams.

• Triage production incidents and work across multiple teams to resolve issues and perform RCA.

• You will be able to multi-task while ensuring high quality of results with dedication to high standards of code quality and testing.

• You will demonstrate experience to work through/around blocking events and deploy complex yet elegant, efficient solutions.

• You will be responsible for participating in project-related ceremonies – stand-ups, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives and sprint planning.

Who you are:

• Possess 10+ years of industry experience comprising of experience in managing large scale application and database operations along with software development experience in building services and applications in AWS cloud platform.

• 2+ years of people management experience with a passion for growing individual careers and enabling high-performing teams

• Hands on experience with native AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, EMR, S3, Lambda, RDS, Route53, CloudWatch, API Gateway.

• Familiar with high volume transactional systems, microservice design, continuous delivery, automated deployments, and related engineering practices.

• Working experience with DevOps Tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Docker and Spinnaker.

• Experience in monitoring observability tools such as Data Dog, Splunk.

• Hands-on experience in managing AWS RDS instances of Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.

• Familiarity with the Oracle E-Business database is preferred, though not a blocker for someone who Understands relational database architecture, patching, cloning, and backup/recovery operations.

• Experience in delivering automated solutions that improve platform health, security, cost-efficiency, alerting and monitoring.

• Ability to lead multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritise decisions and tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

• Effectively communicate with others in a courteous, thoughtful and professional manner and demonstrate multi-tasking ability for orchestrating multiple activities at a time.

• A collaborative spirit with the ability to work across disciplines to influence, learn, and deliver.

• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
