Competitive Intelligence Analyst I

Your curiosity, ambition and appetite for finding insights in competitor data will have a direct impact on many areas of the business and will translate directly into increased competitiveness and revenue opportunities for Expedia.

What you'll do:

Create information flows to support business execution

  • Drive data collection, scheduling and quality control to build and enrich datasets of competitive insights
  • Develop systems and processes to monitor price and supply competitiveness through data sourced from external vendors
  • Design workflows and define tests to ensure internal stakeholders leverage accurate and relevant data in an efficient manner
  • Fulfill ad-hoc requests for data and analysis

Solving the Problem and Communicating

  • Top-class eye for business, analytical rigor, combined with a problem solver mind-set and attention to detail
  • High level of intellectual curiosity and focus on willing to take action business insights
  • Excellent understanding of how to effectively visualize highly complex data.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Technically adept

Partner with internal group of customers to support them and understand their business needs

  • Establish trust and a collaborative working relationship
  • Provide high level of daily customer service as the team's primary liaison to a large (across many countries) group of customers within Expedia's lodging organization
  • Partner with internal data teams to identify and resolve data integrity issues

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree is required (MBA or other advanced degree is preferred) in a numerical field (Business, Economics, Statistics or Computer Science)
  • Any other qualification (e.g. program management) is a plus
  • Intermediate (or better) knowledge of SQL is required
  • Experience with a programming language (e.g. Python/R) highly recommended
  • Ability to convert raw data into impactful reports and insights
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools preferred (Tableau, Power BI etc.)
