Senior Public Relations Specialist

As the Senior Public Relations Specialist for Expedia Group brands in the UK, you will be responsible for supporting locally relevant, highly engaging PR activities that resonate with local media. You will primarily provide PR support for the Expedia brand in the UK, with opportunities to support PR campaigns for and Vrbo, as needed. You will have a keen eye for developing stories and initiatives that will gain the attention of both the media and the greater UK public.

In addition, you will help manage global tentpole campaigns across the three brands focused on storytelling and promoting key travel moments. This will involve working with fellow PR teammates in different countries to ensure message consistency and campaign alignment to drive media results.

What you’ll do:

  • Support brand PR communications in the UK for Expedia Group brands, with a focus on Expedia

  • Provide support for Expedia Group brands cross-brand PR campaigns, including Expedia, and Vrbo, as needed

  • Collaborate with a fast-paced media relations team on development and roll-out of PR programs

  • Manage PR editorial/activity calendars for Expedia Group brands in the UK

  • Support PR campaigns that amplify Expedia Group brands sports sponsorships

  • Manage global tentpole PR campaigns, including liaising with PR colleagues in different countries, managing deadlines, creating global templates and processes and coordinating regular team communications

  • Use data and insights to inform storytelling to support business initiatives

  • Manage press trips and media events

  • Manage coverage reports, drafting status updates and providing business event progress and reports as they occur

  • Help to define metrics and identify KPIs for PR campaigns

  • Manage reactive media issues in partnership with Crisis Communication team

  • Ideate and craft reactive ‘newsjump’ pitches for UK media based on the changing news cycle

Who you are:

  • Proven 5+ years' experience in a media relations or PR role in a consumer agency environment or in-house consumer brand.

  • Exceptional team building and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage changing requirements as well as having outstanding project management and organizational skills

  • Ability to synthesize data into logical conclusions and recommendations to uncover unique storytelling opportunities for Expedia

  • Ability to think creatively and adapt quickly to match the travel landscape

  • Able to handle fast-paced environments, with quick-turn timelines

  • Experience in UK media relations preferred, possessing key consumer media contacts across print, online and broadcast media outlets

  • Consumer product and/or travel industry experience preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in highly matrixed organizations a plus
