Senior Software Development Engineer

As a senior software development engineer, you will be driving the thought leadership in this space to build a first-class approach to enable success of the payments charter.

What You'll Do:

• Proactively team up with peers across the organization to build an understanding of cross dependencies and shared problem-solving

• Demonstrate knowledge of advanced and relevant technology and exhibit comfort working with several forms of technology

• Develop and test sophisticated or non-routine software applications to ensure they meet design requirements

• Use software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns, and computer science fundamentals to write clean, efficient, maintainable, optimized and modular code.

• Lead/Clarify code evolution in code reviews

• Own and deliver tested and optimized high-performance code for public-facing, enterprise scale features.

• You will tackle a wide range of software and system issues that will require a deep understanding of the application architecture, software engineering, and deployment infrastructure

• Participate in the resolution of production issues and develop solutions to prevent future issues from happening again

• Play a key role in shaping decisions across the technology ecosystem within Expedia Group as a domain guide

• Teach and mentor junior developers in project implementation methodology

Who You Are:

• 8+ years of software development experience (Strong preference for Java experience)

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Spring Boot, Kubernetes, and storage solutions

• Experience in creating and supporting web services in a high-transactional environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming concepts, data structures, algorithms, and system-level programming (including multi-threaded programming)

• Track record of building your own automation and reporting tools to enhance your service's capabilities

• Architectural knowledge of designing and developing software in a distributed architecture for multi-tier applications

• High competency in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including estimation, scheduling, design, development, testing, delivery, and maintenance

• Ability to articulate technical design decisions and software implementations in technical forums

• Knowledge of performance testing, application tuning, and load testing

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

• Preferred prior experience with e-commerce systems, payments solutions, and providers
