Localization Specialist
Looking to combine your excellent language and editorial skills, translation and localization experience, and passion for travel into one great job? The Localization Specialist position at Expedia Group offers this mix in a fast-paced, multi-cultural and productive environment. The successful candidate will work together with our international teams all over the world to allow all Expedia Group brands to operate with a truly global ‘Best in Class’ localization quality solution.
What You’ll Do
- Translate, transcreate and localize Expedia Inc. branded websites and associated content from English into Japanese
- Localize and maintain content for all Expedia Group brands, including:
- UI (User Interface), mobile apps and mobile websites through periodic releases;
- Marketing and merchandizing material, including banners and promotions for the specific market;
- HR documentation, training material and related documentation for internal users and external clients, automatic emails to customers and hoteliers, newsletters, marketing emails;
- Social Media content (Facebook, Twitter etc.)
- Create SEO-friendly and marketing-oriented articles
- Support the SEM Teams in localizing URL, keywords, key phrases for SEM campaigns
- Support the company initiatives and process all related requests within the specific SLA
- Follow quality processes and necessary guidelines and instructions
- Follow company guidelines to ensure tone, style and voice of Expedia branded products
- Work in conjunction with Quality Managers and Project Managers to improve the quality of Expedia Group websites
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple requests from various stakeholders across brands
- Follow terminology, glossaries, reference materials and style guides for their specific language
Who You Are
- Must be a native Japanese speaker
- Bachelor's or Master's in Translation/Linguistics/Computational linguistics or a related field; or equivalent related professional experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience working as a full-time translator
- Fluent in English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Extreme flexibility and ability to adapt to multiple tasks
- Experience working in a multilingual environment/global environment
- Technically minded: able to grasp technical and complex concepts quickly
- Knowledge of Translation Memory tools - Trados, SDL Worldserver, XTM, Phrase
- Able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail, special ability to focus on linguistic issues
- Writing/editing experience desirable
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
