Senior Strategic Initiatives Manager, Trips

Expedia Group is seeking a dynamic, motivated leader to join the Expedia Brands team as a Sr. Manager for the Trips Business Unit (Air, Package, Car, Cruise, and Activities).

This is a great opportunity to join the surging travel industry and help drive the business forward while working on impactful and complex problems. The Trips business unit accounted for approximately one-third of Expedia Brand’s revenues in 2022. If you are energized by the idea of delivering business outcomes by rolling up your sleeves, bringing teams together and making an impact, you'll be a great fit.

This role will be responsible for identifying and managing initiatives to drive growth and optimize business results across Brand Expedia’s Trips business. You and your team will monitor key business metrics, identify opportunities for improvements, recommend investment priorities (loyalty, channel resourcing, pricing optimization, promotional opportunities, product enablers, supply optimization etc.), and work cross-functionally to action on opportunities to grow the business and optimize margin.

This requires a leader that is curious, fearless, and biased to action to shape strategy and deliver results. You have strong program management skills and can build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships to ensure your initiatives are well-planned, understood, communicated, and effectively executed. The role will report directly to the Director, Trips for Expedia Brands.

What you’ll do:

  • Be a key member of an engaged and inspired team which monitors daily/weekly/monthly business performance, identifies risks and opportunities, and drives cross-functional initiatives to deliver business unit KPIs, focused on our Air and Car rentals businesses

  • Analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop data-driven insights on key drivers of financial performance

  • End-to-end program management of high-impact initiatives (scoping opportunities, developing business cases, leading recommendations to leadership, and developing implementation plans) that drive meaningful impact to our travelers and our business

  • Partner cross-functionally with key stakeholders to navigate critical business changes and ensure successful implementation of key initiatives

  • Ideate on new solutions to improve current business processes and address challenges, and leverage other subject matter experts as needed to develop solutions

  • Leverage your deep understanding of the policies, practices, trends and information that impact the organization and its customers to plan for future projects

Who you are:

  • 7+ years of business management, B2C ecommerce, B2C strategy, and P&L management experience

  • Innovative and strategic thinker: demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to solutions: prior experiences tackling vague problems, crisply framing the challenges, identifying a path forward, and driving execution to the finish-line

  • Collaborator: Work in close partnership and build effective relationships with peers and other cross functional stakeholders to deliver Expedia Group-maximizing outcomes

  • Analytical: Proficient in synthesizing complex problems, using data and insights to drive action; mindful of adapting messaging to audience at hand

  • Proven track record: Demonstrated ability to identify, scope, and deliver on strategic projects working with stakeholders of all levels with strong program management skills

  • Curious and passionate: Desire to continuously learn more, which you use to understand business operations and the levers that drive profitable growth

  • Bias to Action: Comfortable making recommendations across competing and equally critical business priorities. Motivated by goal achievement and continuous improvement, with enthusiasm and strive to motivate your team and the wider organization
