Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering

This role will lead engineering teams for E4B’s biggest Financial Institution and Loyalty partner. You will work as a problem-solver across multiple technology teams at E4B and Expedia Group, as well as with external partners, to design and deliver customer-centric solutions. You are not only a skilled programmer, but also a leader and mentor, capable of raising the quality bar and overall level of self-direction of a team. You will serve as a domain specialist and technical leader in multi-functional feature delivery and manage engineering aspects of a relationship with a multi-billion-dollar partner. What You'll Do

  • Draw on experience to lead technical designs and implementation of highly scalable and adaptable systems

  • Oversee development for multiple engineering pods

  • Review code utilizing expert-level skills in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and system level programming (including multi-threaded programming)

  • Lead performance testing and load testing projects to optimize for performance and scalability

  • Drive resilience engineering for every component the team builds

  • Use past experience with Agile software development to improve team execution

  • Engage with Cloud DevOps and security services deployment and support


Who You Are

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent related professional experience required

  • An experienced leader leading engineering teams

  • 7+ years of software development experience across the full stack and multiple technologies, languages, and frameworks with at least 2 years managing teams of software engineers

  • Technically proficient in transactional middleware using Java

  • Background with data storage technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL, Document Store, in memory key/value, search systems)

  • Contributions to open-source projects a plus

  • Familiar with e-commerce architecture and production resiliency

  • Comfortable using data to make technical and business decisions

  • Experience developing in AWS or similar cloud platforms. Preferred: S3, ECS/Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, EMR, CloudFormation

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, review technical designs, and support production systems

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $157,500.00 to $220,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $252,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
