Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering

We are currently looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and focused Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering to join the Lodging Reservation Technology team as part of our Partner Technology Division.

In this role based in Austin TX, you will lead a multi-geolocation engineering team providing technical leadership and people management for your team members. We seek to be effective and efficient towards our goal and would like to partner up together to deliver our road map. The role also entails working with business partners to gather requirements and drive solution design, development, and ultimate delivery.

You have a chance to make critical choices on technology, design & architecture for our next-generation Lodging Reservation Platform. This space is exciting with tremendous opportunity to influence, deliver, and be a part of a great success story. 70% of Expedia Group reservations (all Hotels and Vacation Rentals) flow through this system, and we are starting to unify two different technology systems. The exposure to the travel industry Lodging business will be 360 degrees, providing an opportunity to learn both customer and supplier nuances. What you’ll do:

  • Make decisions on the design, architecture, and delivery of systems

  • Build Teams and help career management of your reports

  • Be an active coach and mentor to your team and grow them in their careers

  • Drive agile development methodologies every day

  • Strive to continuously improve the operations, processes, methodologies, technology choices, and practices of the team

  • Interact with your team, customers, and peers to share information and improve cross-department processes

  • Strive for transparency and partnership between our engineers and our business partners

  • Engage in concept discussions, and proposed technology solutions, to meet business objectives and influence such decisions

  • Work with multi-functional project teams on solution architecture options for design

  • Ensure all work meets quality, operational, and architectural standards needed for organizational success

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

  • 8+ years of overall experience

  • 3-5 years' experience in managing multi-discipline technology teams

  • Strong technical acumen which allows you to be responsible for the technical domain; identify strengths and weaknesses among languages and select among available technology to implement and solve

  • Hands-on approach and ready to deep dive into code details with the team

  • Strong coordination and influencing skills

  • Experienced developer and leader in large-scale systems

  • Experience in leading data center strategy and developing systems for cloud

  • Shown success previously as a software engineering leader who can focus on results using Agile methodologies, and open development environments

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
