As a Strategic Initiatives Manager on our team, you will be the driving force of strategic projects across the Expedia Group (EG) and Expedia for Business (E4B). E4B is responsible for the business relationship with our supply (Lodging, Air, Car and Cruise) as well as our B2B partners (via Expedia Partner Services).

These partners are our valued suppliers as well as B2B customers. This position will act as essential business partner to the E4B group, with particular focus on lodging, to develop and execute business strategy, in close coordination with other EG divisions. To excel in this position, an individual needs to be entrepreneurial, collaborative, and own end-to-end missions.

What you’ll do:

  • Evaluate key trends, opportunities and risks

  • Support the leadership team, identifying key opportunities across focus areas

  • Frame the opportunities identified into specific initiatives and obtain agreement

  • You will handle the execution of identified initiatives and reports on their business impact and status, in partnership with business sponsors and other teams, as needed

  • Partner with our analytics team to build fact-based insights, drive decision making on investments and size the impact and status of initiatives launched

  • Will act as the change engine for ongoing innovations in the hotel business, identifying and broadly implementing the best ways of working across the organization

  • Partner with the line teams required to deliver the initiatives identified (e.g. technology, operations, finance, analytics, sales, etc.)

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of processes, products and markets and build deep relationships with applicable regional leadership teams

  • Serve as the voice of E4B into broader Expedia Group global projects, ensuring input and feedback from the E4B organization is well-captured and integrated

  • Conduct industry competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions

  • Help facilitate the delivery of the annual plan and divisional scorecard results

Who you are:

  • 5-7 years work experience, 2-3 years of management consulting strongly preferred

  • Master's in Business Administration or related field; or equivalent related professional experience is a plus

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, takes an analytical approach, and draws upon business sense where information is incomplete

  • Demonstrates independent thinking; can constructively disagree and debate to improve team level work product

  • Ability to build trust with colleagues throughout the organization, influence indirectly others to drive common goals and effectively coordinate teams across multiple teams and geographies

  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to synthesize and present complex concepts to both executive leadership and operational teams (adaptive style)

  • Results-oriented, appetite for driving business impact / execution, including in a highly autonomous role

  • Fast learner, flexible across operating domains in a constantly evolving environment

  • Ability to work across multiple remote locations

  • Great teammate – Actively promotes & encourages diversity of thought, and champions a climate in which individuals from any background can perform at their best

  • Self-motivated and able to drive success with limited guidance

  • International experience and/or online or travel industry a plus

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $110,500.00 to $155,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $177,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
