Director, Business Planning

Do you want a highly impactful role within a team that is growing fast? If you answered yes, you might be the Director, Business Planning we are looking for to join our Business Planning team!
This new role will build processes to intake and track our divisional priorities with cross-divisional dependencies to ensure these are categorized by importance so that delivery is according to plan, as well as drive the ongoing planning and operational rhythms to ensure E4B’s priorities are supported. The position can be based in Seattle or our London office. We work a hybrid model, 50% in office and 50% remote.
What you’ll do:
Define divisional governance and operating rhythms to ensure stakeholders have transparency into their priorities while entrusting our teams to represent their needs with the relevant stakeholder groups
Advocate for and champion divisional priorities in existing cross-divisional processes and with cross-divisional leadership, while maintaining a one-EG approach that ensure we do what’s best for the company
Lead collaboration with key stakeholders and help them successfully navigate through critical business changes
Partner with leaders across all of Expedia Group to develop strategic relationships and contribute subject matter expertise to develop unique solutions to complex issues
Contribute to cross-divisional process improvements to improve alignment and transparency between teams
Work with divisional stakeholders to assess new opportunities and help guide them through the appropriate processes to secure the necessary resources or support from senior management and cross-divisional teams – including business cases, prioritization alignment, identifying areas for synergy
Stay ahead of the progress of the largest strategic programs across the division; realigning priorities, timelines, or resources as needed to ensure we meet delivery expectations
Lead proactive identification and mitigation of issues and risks. Leverage experience to anticipate risks in advance of impacts. Integrate business and cross-division perspective into issue/risk identification & mitigation. Decide mitigation strategies (when appropriate)
Provide guidance when evaluating the impacts of a solution to ensure linkages between structure, people, process, and technology
Enable optimum organizational efficiency by taking a whole systems approach and thinking across boundaries to identify which polices/processes should be standardized and which should differ
Evangelize the work of the organization opportunistically
Build relationships and influence partners and stakeholders to align perspectives, enable teams, and remove roadblocks
Utilize knowledge of the business and financial impact of decisions/solutions to drive high-impact projects that support the organization and contribute to financial performance
Guide others on best practice approaches for creating organized, clear, and concise materials to convey information in a user-friendly way
Challenge others to bring fresh ideas and out-of-the-box thinking to create breakthrough communications that ensure comprehension and ease-of-use
Be a champion of change management
Who you are:
Bachelor's or Master's in a related field; or equivalent related professional experience
10+years in program management or strategic initiative management
Strong demonstrated experience in organization design and culture, team and community and mentorship
Passionate about developing and/or implementation the organization’s business strategy by tackling complex business challenges, planning and execution of strategic initiatives, and partnering with cross functional teams to drive a shared agenda
Strong communicator and can drive cross-brand collaboration, often through storytelling and persuasion to connect vision, strategy, and action plans at the organizational level
Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment across various teams and time zones, with a strong bias for action
Demonstrates a critical understanding of business processes making recommendations for improvement, sponsoring and staging workshops/knowledge sessions to improve the organization's functional knowledge and acuity, and leveraging insights and subject-matter experts to overcome challenges
Demonstrates the ability to creatively develop tools, visual aids and other original content to support the understanding/education of sophisticated and technical information (e.g., legal, operational risk, and regulatory data)
Able to influence at all levels of the organization by inspiring and gaining the commitment of others towards the vision, mission values and organizational goals
Experience coaching others on the standard methodologies and approaches for crafting clear, concise, and organized communication materials to convey technical concepts in a user-friendly way
Experience driving a culture of positive constructive feedback, challenging others to bring fresh and creative perspectives to problem solving
