Technical Accounting Intern

For the Technical Accounting & Oversight team, we are looking for an enthusiastic Technical Accounting Intern that will help us to achieve excellence on US GAAP and SEC technical accounting topics and other related projects.

We are looking for someone with a deep desire for learning, good communication skills and a good level of proactivity and organizational skills.

As part of Technical Accounting & Oversight, you will be primarily focused on supporting the Technical Accounting team on accounting treatment of new products, supporting the assessment of the accounting of non-recurring transactions, participating in group reporting and process improvement. As an intern, you will be part of a dynamic organization of finance professionals and will report to the Head of Technical Accounting & Oversight of Booking.com. You will be working from our headquarters in Amsterdam, but can interact regularly with our local group teams in the US and across other countries.

B.Responsible:

  • Support accounting implementation of new initiatives, products and non-recurring transactions
  • Organize and support the technical accounting assessments (US GAAP and SEC)
  • Brainstorm new ideas of standardization and simplification where possible
  • Participate in collaborative initiatives across teams locally and globally
  • Be part of the contact line between Financial Controllers and other key Finance departments (FP&A, Risk & Control, Business Units, Tax, Treasury and Reporting team)

B.Skilled:

  • University student of Accounting, Business or Economics
  • Enthusiastic about learning
  • Good process improvement and innovation eye
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

To be eligible for this internship, you need to be living in the Netherlands and currently enrolled in a Dutch University.

You will be asked to provide a contact for your university’s internship coordinator for us to verify your enrolment in a formal university internship program.

For this position you will be required to be in the Amsterdam Campus 4 days a week starting in September 2024 for 20 weeks.
