The FinTech business unit creates best in class payment products that offer choice to guests and help Bookings business partners grow their business.

The Financial Systems team in the FinTech business unit provides technical expertise to the finance department and is responsible for supporting and innovating SAP ERP/S4HANA, SAP BI, Native HANA solutions, SAP BTP, SAP SAC and many other connected external systems like Ivalua, Conga or Blackline. We want to change the way people work with enterprise systems, by building an application platform that supports simplification of business processes and empowers the finance community with better integrations and financial insights.

This is a great opportunity for a strong, hands-on Engineering Manager. The focus of this role is to manage, guide and coach an engineering team. The engineering manager takes full ownership of health and the technical direction of the systems under their responsibility and supports the professional development of their team members. We are looking for a technically strong role model that can help their team advance and develop. You will work closely with other leaders, stakeholders and FinTech teams to determine feasibility, effectiveness, scalability and time-to-market for new and existing products.

What you’ll be doing:

People Leadership

  • Inspire and motivate multiple cross technology teams;
  • Day-to-day interaction with offshore and external development teams. Quality and expectation management;
  • Directly manage engineers;
  • Lead by example by taking ownership, being proactive and collaborating;
  • Nurture, grow and develop engineering talent in the team;
  • Foster a great culture that innovates, work together as a team, partner with other com teams and roles and celebrates unified success;
  • Respect the values and use them as a guide to the way we work.

Technology, Craft & Delivery

  • Engineering planning and delivery, technical quality and use of best practices within own team;
  • Delivery of wider engineering strategic objectives;
  • Ability to get into the technical detail when required, to coach, support and mentor the team;
  • Drive a culture of ownership and technical excellence, including reactive work such as incident escalations;
  • Learn new technologies and keep abreast of existing technologies to be able to share learnings and apply these to a variety of projects when needed;
  • Contribute to the evolution of best practices across the department;
  • Contribute to the on-going SAP S4/HANA transformation project with best practices and improvements for risk minimization;
  • Embed agile ways of working and company values within the team.

Architecture & Product Strategy

  • Define, shape and deliver the roadmap;
  • Build new products, processes and operational plans;
  • Negotiate on the strategic importance of own product roadmap features;
  • Drive innovation in the team;
  • Collaborate with technical leads, architects, product managers and key individuals;
  • Own the architecture across the team and drive architectural alignment.


  • 8+ years of experience with engineering of secured SAP environments including integration of digital platforms/legacy applications with SAP
  • 3-4 years in people leadership role and managing multicultural teams;
  • Strong experience with security management of large, highly regulated, SAP environments;
  • Strong experience with risk management, risk based prioritization, understanding of popular risk frameworks (SOx, NIST, CCM);
  • Strong experience with design, engineering for:
  • End to end security of SAP applications;
  • SAP Authorisations on ECC/ S4/Fiori/ HANA;
  • SAP GRC and industry best practices;
  • Identity management and integration of IdM products with SAP GRC;
  • Cyber security solutions (for SAP applications) and incident monitoring best practices;
  • Product engineering background in large organizations;
  • Experience in payments industry;
  • People/project management certifications;
  • SAP certifications.

  • Technical expert in the SAP S4/HANA authorizations, in SAP GRC, IAM solutions both on-premise and cloud based, to enable the latest SAP technologies;
  • Technical experience with Cybersecurity concepts with the involvement of SAP technologies;
  • Proficiency in agile, dev-ops methodology, release management practices and tools in a complex SAP landscape;
  • Interest in the latest technology trends and open for innovations coming at any level of the team;
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team of engineers in a fast-paced and complex environment;
  • Strong security engineering & system design skills with ability to get hands-on with your team;
  • Deep experience with risk analysis and impact assessment of engineering activities;
  • Deep experience with planning mitigations and remediations of new risks ;
  • Deep experience with SAP security governance;
  • Experience in working with and lifecycle of IT risks;
  • Experience in working on products with a large customer base and company wide impact;
  • Past experience with SAP finance is a plus;
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven mindset.
