About the position

Booking Holdings is currently undergoing a Finance Transformation initiative that will drive effective finance support for business management; promote strong governance and control in the organization; and have a world-class finance organization in terms of execution and efficiency.

The Vice President & Head of Transformation, GBS will lead the Transformation functions (Enterprise Program Management Office/EPMO, Communications & Change Management, Master Data, Operational Excellence, Financial Systems, and Data & Analytics) at BHI as we undergo our critical Finance Transformation initiative. They will partner closely with our GPO and our Operations functions, reporting into the Head of Global Business Services.

They will support the organizational strategy to drive towards a modern technology, process, and organizational model (future state), in order to improve on the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the finance organization. They will work daily with BHI and brand leaders in Finance and leverage their experience with operational excellence and in a global business services environment in order to drive change and reach success for the enterprise.

Success for this individual will consist of 4 things:

  • Developing a culture of continuous improvement across the Transformation organization;
  • Creating standard ways of working across the PMO, Opex, etc in order to effectively scale these services across brands - developing an “as-a-service” model for project management, data, analytics, communications, and change to name a few;
  • Driving GBS Strategy through effective stakeholder relationships, business partnering, and transition oversight for new services moving into Shared Service Centers;
  • Building effective performance scorecards - in order to clearly demonstrate value and impact of the GBS agenda.

This role will report into the Head of Global Business Services - and support the organizational strategy to drive towards a modern technology, process, and organizational model - future state target operating model - in order to improve on the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the finance organization (doing the right things/doing things right).

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will get to:

  • Partner with brand and GBS leaders on a daily basis to execute the CFO Finance vision and strategy; manage strategic alignment with external partners, and consistently measure execution to that strategy;
  • Leverage lean principles to help the organization reduce complexity and promote “one version of the truth” as we implement and expand our data and reporting platform;
  • Collaborate in setting direction for Operational Excellence program and work with finance leadership to design and pilot foundational training and principles to be rolled out across organization - define north star for Operational Excellence;
  • Partner with analytics and master data teams to define data-driven frameworks and processes to identify, measure, and manage transformation program success focusing on business value;
  • Work with department Director of GBS Operations in order to drive finance annual OKR and planning cycles and develop and drive recurring processes to ensure cross-functional commitment to deliver on key goals;
  • Partner with EPMO, and respective teams to identify, scope, and prioritize projects based on business needs - work with Finance functions to develop and articulate clear business case and outcome based KPIs;
  • Work closely with GBS finance leads and corporate FP&A to develop clear approach for future investments; and improve process to develop business cases, and report on progress against base case;
  • Work with Organizational Change Management team within GBS and across corporate functions to improve information flow, and visibility of GBS operations and scope of services.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (Advanced Degree or MBA preferred);
  • 12+ years of relevant experience;
  • Proven people leader, capable of coaching, mentoring, and developing people;
  • Strong communicator - with experience working in highly federated, independent, and decentralized business units/brands;
  • Strong analytical skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers - and use data to drive decisions and strategic direction;
  • Experience working in global business environment with sound understanding of global process and transactional flows;
  • Clear thinking/problem solving: successfully led projects/process improvements within finance functions; able to quickly link finance to operations (foundations in operational excellence);
  • Strong work ethic, linked to execution, and department vision;
  • PMP or related discipline (Scrum, Agile);
  • Operational excellence (Lean expert preferred);
  • Experience leading, and/or establishing Shared Services/Global Business Services Model.
