Job Description

In this role, you will drive strategic and operational decisions across a variety of topics, and the creation of overall strategic direction and alignment across the Treasury Financial Services workstreams. The role plays a leading part in the creation and execution of the strategy, ensures the right topics are being worked on across multiple functions and stakeholders, and that results are achieved, in line with our business strategy.

Furthermore, the role is responsible for enabling the ideation, design, build, expansion and continuous evolution of the Payments, Banking and Financial Services ecosystem within Booking.com and strategically elevate functional capabilities to pace with market shift in product and technology, regulatory landscape (in payments and banking industry), macroeconomics and political environment.

This is done by ensuring coherence in services delivered by Treasury and Finance to the different commercial and product teams, while also developing new and/ or enhanced dedicated Financial Services Strategy functions such as Data Science & Analytics, FinCrime, Business Resilience and Program Management. The Senior Treasury Manager - Financial Service Strategy creates value by acting as a trusted advisor that supports the enablement of commercial strategies from Treasury and Financial Service capacity in general.

Hence, in order to measure success and help drive team direction toward north star, the role manages the establishment and accountable for the deliverables of the Data Science and Analytics team within the Financial Services organization. Thus, acting as an innovation catalyst for the team, to unlock value to business by leveraging centralized data and analytics. This new team is responsible for defining Data Strategy and Road Map inline with departmental vision, developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Insights for the different Financial Services teams, developing and Maintaining Accurate Periodical Reporting to Treasury and Finance Leadership and broader stakeholders (E.g. BHFS/ Regulated entities), as well as Identifying and Adopting Data Analytical Technology and Tooling to support scaling of work requirements.

Your Responsibilities:

Develop Treasury & Financial Services Strategies and the Team, Resolve Strategic Questions

  • Lead multiple critical projects / programs to solve complex open-ended strategic challenges related but not limited to Payments, Banking, Financial Services related company initiatives initiated by Treasury.
  • Scope well structured projects and work streams across complicated topics and stakeholder environments. Promote adoption of best practices in the execution of daily activities.
  • Identify gap, define opportunity and where relevant partner with other external stakeholders (i.e. FinTech, PSP and Bank, commercial counterparty or partner) and internal subject matter experts (E.g. Product, Partner Service, Customer Services, Legal, Treasury & Finance leadership teams etc.) to deliver improvements of products, processes and/or cost efficiency.
  • Act as an innovation catalyst within the Treasury and Finance organization by exploring, assessing and implementing strategic opportunities and solutions. Further, actively seek opportunities to increase our ability to scale by leveraging (new) technology and efficiency-focused principles such as, but not limited to, Six Sigma principles.
  • Coach and inspire managers, team leaders and SMEs in the Financial Services Strategy. Ensure continuous clarity of roles, responsibilities and provide team direction on the key performance deliverables.
  • Build trusted relationships with the business and stakeholders to deliver best- in- class Financial Services, FinCrime and Business Resilience solutions, creating and protecting value through strategic advisory services, and aiding decision making with data-driven insights.
  • Define problems, scope and perform analytical tasks with rigor and high degrees of objectivity.
  • Develop recommendations, communicate, achieve on-going alignment and buy-in with compelling storyline to senior stakeholders (Treasury LT, Finance LT and other Business Units Leadership Team).
  • Identify focus areas, including goals, how to get there, operating model and business cases for new projects/ programs.

Understand & Assess Implications of Future Trends, Enhance Customer Centricity

  • Be a thought leader on the business topics relevant to your area
  • Pro-actively reshape the strategic agenda based on deep understanding of customer and business needs & market knowledge
  • Have a deep understanding of future trends in the market within the remit of Payments, Banking, Financial Services, regulatory and technology developments.
  • Understand implications of above and articulate risks / opportunities arising out of such trends that can ultimately enhance consumer centricity.

Operationalize Strategy

  • Lead development of operational plans from Treasury & Financial Services strategic priorities and programs.
  • Lead financial flows architectural design across business verticals (e.g. Flights, Insurance, Transport, Attractions, etc.) and ensure close collaboration with Risk Owners, Legal and Compliance team to enable safeguarding of funds.
  • Ensure all owned and managed projects/ programs are compliant to all applicable rules and regulations (I.e. Payments and Banking regulations, Tax requirements, SOX compliance processes) and enable cross teams end- to- end accountability across strategic programs.
  • Ensure focus areas, resource allocation, objectives, KPIs & metrics are aligned to overall Treasury & Financial Services strategy and with relevant stakeholders (e.g. FinTech Business Unit and other commercial teams such as TRIP, Accommodation, Market Place and Marketing. But also Legal and Compliance and rest of Finance).
  • Help define, deliver and Maintain robust KPI, Insights and Reporting to meet the data needs for Treasury & Financial Services team, Treasury LT and Finance LT including CFO . Provide strategic advisory services to promote data savviness within the organization. Select appropriate tooling to support scaling of work requirements.
  • Refine and maintain a clear strategic roadmap, linked to operational realities and long term goals.
  • Help ensure effective and consistent communication of strategy and annual goals.
  • Monitor quarterly objectives / strategic priorities, ensure prompt & effective actions are taken by the responsible owners to course correct where necessary.
  • Support leadership (Treasury LT: Director/Senior Director and VP/SVP levels) in understanding inefficiencies in strategy delivery cross teams and multiple initiatives.

Support Decision Making by Leadership

  • Support decision making for leadership: Director of Treasury, Financial Services and Banking, and other Treasury LTs.
  • Ensure the Treasury Leadership team is spending time on most important topics & have high quality materials in order to make effective, impactful decisions.
  • Ensure annual, quarterly and/ or weekly leadership processes (e.g. offsites, project/ program cadences) are effective at connecting strategy, leadership decisions and downstream execution.

Your Skills:

  • Graduate in Financial or Business Economics studies with minimum 12+ years post education experience, including at least 7 years in Corporate Treasury;
  • Possess deep understanding and experience in Treasury & Financial Services landscape such as Payments, Banking and Infrastructure, FinTech, Regulatory and Insurance;
  • Ability to think outside the box and innovative mindset. Passionate on continuous improvement by leveraging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning;
  • Can break down complex, ill-defined business problems into clear project definition, with well articulated workstreams to solve;
  • Is highly proficient in performing complex analytical tasks, managing complex project/ programs and can also scope the analysis for others;
  • Experience and Effective people manager, strong coaching ability and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Is an excellent influencer in a highly matrix and complex environment, enabling department leadership. Influences up to VP/SVP level and enables them to lead change;
  • Can proactively set the mid-term vision for the team / topics of ownership. Ability & commitment to learn fast and adapt to a fast moving environment;
  • Experienced and demonstrated full scale end to end global project implementation that relates to product and/or commercial initiatives for example safeguarding model and compliance for regulated entities, global banking and payments solutioning, system and technology, global cash and liquidity management and/ or global risk management;
  • Affinity for Systems and Data. Understand the Data flows related to Financial Flows and can identify data quality issues. Analytical mindset focused on bringing more data to the decision-making process;
  • Ability to drive through changes, incremental improvements to reduce process waste and introduce innovative new solutions in line with business strategy;
