Our brand new FinTech business unit – with teams in Amsterdam, Bangalore, London and Shanghai – develops new products and drives innovation to help us continue removing financial friction from the travel process, while finding new business opportunities for Booking.com. Buying and selling travel-related products and services will become simpler for both travelers and partners.

The Sr. Account Specialist function is a new role within the Commercial Partnerships team, the unit in charge of identifying, executing and managing all third-party partnerships to enable the FinTech business unit’s vision. The team is responsible for directly owning relationships that bring tens of USD millions in efficiencies and/ or upside to Booking.com every year. The candidate will have an opportunity to help craft and drive team initiatives from the earliest stages.

Job Summary

As a Sr. Account Specialist, you’ll drive the day-to-day management of Booking.com FinTech’s largest payment partner accounts. You’ll supervise our partners’ performance on our payment platform and act as a first point of contact for the partners’ commercial queries and incident escalations. You’ll work with internal partners across the FinTech Commercial, Product and Analytics teams to ensure our partners are performing at their peak.

You’ll work closely with the Sr. Partnerships Manager to execute on our strategic account plans. This will involve support in contract renegotiations and QBRs, as well as taking the lead on short- to mid-term projects related to your key payment partner account. You will also support the Sr. Partnerships Manager in identifying new strategic opportunities with the account.

You will also directly lead a range of smaller payment partner accounts, where you will handle contract negotiations together with the FinTech Legal team, run annual business reviews with external stakeholders, and identify growth opportunities with the FinTech Partnerships team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance and operations of Booking.com FinTech’s largest payment partners

  • Escalate incidents both internally and externally as they arise and follow up to ensure issues have been solved

  • Run day-to-day management of key payment partner accounts

  • Support Sr. Vendor Manager in contract negotiations and QBRs

  • Lead short- to mid-term projects that optimize payment partner performance

  • Attend and support in in-person meetings and industry events

  • Advocate for partner performance optimization opportunities with internal teams

  • Manage negotiations and account planning of a portfolio of small payment providers

  • Take leadership on a secondary task within the FinTech Partnerships team, such as incident management (bug reporting, triaging), service administration (e.g., CRM updating and optimization) or stakeholder management (e.g., job task mapping, knowledge management)

  • Proactively identify savings and top line opportunities with third party counterparts.

  • Build and present business cases to support negotiations and initiatives recommendations

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in partner/business development or account management, ideally in e-commerce.

  • Experience in payments is a plus.

  • Ability to manage projects across multiple departments and stakeholders.

  • Ability to effectively present to and persuade up to Director level.

  • Strong communications and analytical skills.

  • Passionate about payments industry and account support: seeks opportunities to optimize existing commercial partnerships, communicates the business’s needs, and builds long lasting, impactful business relationships.

  • Flexible: Willing to face all challenges with passion, and positivity. Can bend and twist with the changes as they come their way.

  • Ability to solve sophisticated problems, take care of constraints and can come up with creative solutions.

  • Can communicate persuasively and concisely in English, both written and spoken.
