The BizTech Products organization is responsible for delivering innovative technology solutions that empower Airbnb's internal teams to operate efficiently and effectively. Within BizTech Products, you will join a dynamic team of engineers, architects, and business partners who are passionate about building world-class enterprise systems.

As a Technical Lead, you will serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert, partnering with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives. You will work closely with your manager for thought partnership on strategic priorities while setting best practices for systems engineering across the organization.

The Difference You Will Make:

The Technical Lead is a senior technical leader responsible for solving critical problems that require extremely specialized expertise. In this role, you will help deliver and identify the most critical priorities and set best practices for BizTech Products and technical experts in the region. You will be held accountable to deliver on your own Cultural & Functional Excellence (CAFE) contributions and help promote for indirect reports to uphold their CAFE contributions, as these contributions are important for career advancement within Tech. As BizTech’s footprint of regional expertise grows in India, a primary, senior resource to support multiple experts and be accountable for delivering on complex business problems is key.

You will serve as a bridge between our current US-based leadership, Airbnb’s global stakeholder community, while utilizing your deep technical skills and enterprise SaaS expertise to architect, optimize, and scale our technology platforms. This includes owning specific, critical enterprise tasks for all of BizTech Products, such as defining when India-based stakeholders should be testing enterprise software changes for acceptance. Your forward-thinking approach and ability to anticipate future needs will significantly accelerate our journey toward becoming an efficient organization centered around self-service, and early adopters of AI.

You will act as a leader and innovator in your area of expertise, advising and mentoring others on the team while serving as a liaison between your team and business stakeholders.

A Typical Day:

  • This role will be hands-on, supporting several in-region resources to ensure that their work is properly prioritized, roadblocks are removed, so that the team can focus to deliver their best work
  • Lead architecture designs of complex enterprise systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across the technology stack
  • Drive strategic technology roadmaps by proactively communicating and collaborating with senior leadership and business stakeholders
  • Support the architecting and migrations from on-premise solutions to cloud environments (Jira, Confluence), including supporting the in-region testing of critical infrastructure, when required
  • Design, develop, and optimize integrations, workflows, and automation across enterprise SaaS platforms (Slack, Asana, Jira, Airtable, Workday, and others)
  • Establish and implement best practices and governance for application access, usage, and data across the organization
  • Drive continuous improvement across Airbnb’s application suite, recommending and implementing approved AI tools to foster enhanced self-service and efficiency for Airbnb employees
  • Conduct analysis of current and future application usage across teams and personas to inform technology decisions
  • Lead business requirements gathering sessions, translating complex business needs into scalable technical solutions
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Systems Engineers & Business Solutions Engineers within BizTech Products India, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation
  • Ensure systems and integrations comply with information security and governance best practices
  • Stay current with the latest industry trends in cloud technologies, AI/ML, and enterprise systems to inform strategic direction
  • Help with broader BizTech Engagement activities, ensuring that all India-based employees in India have a voice for engagement and belonging.=

Your Expertise:

  • 12+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Platform Engineer, or similar role in an enterprise cloud environment
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience architecting and executing complex migrations from on-premise tools to cloud platforms (with the most critical applications being one or more of: Jira Cloud, Workday, Asana, Slack, AirTable, Miro, RightAnswers, and Figma)
  • Deep expertise in enterprise SaaS administration, optimization, and integration across platforms mentioned above
  • Strong coding, automation, and scripting skills with Python, Java and experience with REST APIs, JSON, and integration platforms (Mulesoft, Tray.ai, Workday Studio)
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering enterprise-scale projects from inception through successful delivery
  • Solid understanding of system architecture, data modeling, integration frameworks, and security best practices
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience establishing effective partnerships across teams such as fellow BizTech, engineering, security, finance, procurement, and customer support.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AI/ML integration and automation tools
  • Background in IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and tools
  • Experience supporting global, distributed teams across multiple time zones
  • Knowledge of data governance, compliance frameworks, and enterprise security standards
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, Splunk, New Relic)

Your Location:

This position is remote-eligible and can be performed from anywhere in India with a robust internet connection. You will collaborate with teams across multiple time zones, but with a mandatory minimum 2hr overlap with US Pacific Time Zone (8:00am - 10:00am PT) [excluding Fridays, IST].

As part of our remote work policy, you may be required to travel periodically for team gatherings, planning sessions, or company events (typically no more than two times per year).
