The Difference You Will Make:

  • The Project Manager (PM) for Airbnb's Insider Threat Investigations Program acts as a dedicated project leader focused on strategic coordination, delivery, and ongoing improvement of projects and initiatives related to insider risk prevention, response, and remediation. This role draws on advanced project management skills and coordination to protect Airbnb’s data, assets, and reputation from internal threats, and is responsible for driving program accountability through rigorous metric tracking and effective stakeholder reporting.

A Typical Day:

  • Strategic Program Leadership

    • Lead design, rollout, and continuous improvement project coordination and execution of the Investigations Program across global teams, embedding strategic vision and operational excellence.
    • Develop and update insider threat prevention frameworks and response protocols tailored to evolving business needs.
    • Operates independently as a program and project leader on highly complex, multi-region initiatives with significant organizational impact.
    • Track, analyze, and report Investigations program goals, OKRs, and KPIs relating to insider threat prevention and investigations, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize outcomes and inform program adjustments.
    • Own the creation, maintenance, and delivery of robust metrics dashboards and reporting documents, ensuring transparency into program performance for leadership and key stakeholders.

    Project & Incident Management

    • Own the planning, onboarding, and competency cross-functional incident management training (e.g., updating new cross-functional workflows, training rollouts, process enhancements), ensuring initiatives meet deadlines, cross-functional training milestones are met, and compliance requirements throughout the lifecycle.
    • Drives strategic remediation planning and leads organizational practices for insider risk management through metric-informed decision making and clear stakeholder engagement.
    • Manage and track project intake, escalation, resource mobilization, and post-mortem review for continuous improvement.
    • Perform gap analysis and lead improvements in investigation processes, maintaining thorough documentation and legal compliance.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Facilitate coordinated reporting and knowledge-sharing between Investigations, Information Security, Legal, Privacy, Talent, and other teams, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
    • Partner with Security Engineering and Security Technical Project Manager(s) (TPM) for joint projects and response planning for major projects and/or major events preparations.
    • Regularly deliver executive-level status updates, comprehensive risk assessments, and tailored stakeholder reports, ensuring clear and actionable communication of program metrics, program strategy, and strategic recommendations.

    Process & Compliance Management

    • Draft, optimize, and enforce policies, procedures, and control frameworks aligned with industry and regulatory standards.
    • Ensure all project and investigative work adheres to relevant and compliance laws, regulations, and company values.
    • Champions process and tool improvements for measuring and reporting program success.

    Team Development & Coaching

    • Mentor and enable direct and indirect team members, fostering skill development in project management, compliance, and metric-based reporting.
    • Lead and coordinate cross-functional knowledge sharing, in-person gatherings, and operational review sessions.

    Resource & Budget Management

    • Manage program resources and budgets, ensuring optimized allocation to meet evolving program needs and achieve measurable impact.


Your Expertise:

  • 6+ years professional experience in project management in insider threat investigations, risk management, or related disciplines; minimum 4 years in a project/program leadership role.
  • Proven expertise building and executing large-scale, enterprise investigation or security programs with distributed teams.
  • Knowledge of insider threat domains, global investigative process, OSINT, standard corporate PM platforms.
  • Experience implementing cross-functional workflows, compliance frameworks, and comprehensive metric/reporting strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and executive presence, with demonstrated ability to create and deliver stakeholder reports.
  • Industry certifications preferred: CISSP, GIAC, CFE, PMP.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred in relevant fields.

Your Location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
