Airbnb is seeking a Corporate and Policy Communications, Senior Manager - EMEA to strengthen our reputation and shape the narratives that matter most across the region. In this role, you’ll act as the communications arm of our policy team - ensuring regulatory progress and company milestones are amplified through compelling storytelling in the press. From handling high-stakes media inquiries on issues like housing, regulation, and over-tourism, to driving proactive campaigns that highlight Airbnb’s positive impact on communities, this is a chance to influence the conversation at the intersection of travel, technology, and policy. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, local comms managers, and the EU policy team, serving as a bridge across markets and a trusted partner in delivering clear, consistent, and impactful communications.

  • Policy Communications: Advise corporate and policy managers across EMEA countries and support the EMEA Corporate and Policy Communications Senior Lead on communications strategies for key policy initiatives, litigation, and regulatory updates.
  • Corporate Communications: Partner with a country leads and corporate and policy managers to ensure all communications initiatives are seamlessly executed across the EMEA region.
  • EU policy-communications : implement the communication strategy towards the European institutions, in close partnership with the EU policy team.
  • Proactive Campaigns: Drive regionally relevant initiatives by working with cross-functional teams and external partners. Develop and pitch compelling content, including data reports and op-eds, to advance our corporate and policy goals.
  • Content Creation: Draft and edit a wide range of written materials, including press releases, messaging guidelines, Q&As, briefing documents, and speeches. Ensure these materials are aligned with global narratives while resonating locally.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Drive cross-functional collaboration with internal teams such as Legal, Policy, Marketing, and BizOps. Provide regular updates and reporting to regional and global stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support for reactive + coordinating cross-region proactive campaigns (i.e: family report, Rural Economic Impact, Overtourism, Housing.).
  • Support the EMEA team in managing reactive press requests and ensure utilization of all available tools (data, industry research, host stories, etc.) to defend Airbnb’s community and brand.
  • Coordinate policy comms initiatives that involve partnering with external associations, political figures or third party organizations.
  • Partner with the EU policy team to develop and implement the EU policy comms strategy
  • Develop plans that involve engaging with content creators, opinion leaders, political and economic influencers and industry experts.
  • Develop written materials (story pitches, messaging guidelines, Q&As, briefs, presentations, speeches, etc.) and manage the approval process with the Regional Lead.
  • Work with other members of the Comms teams for feedback and guidance on best strategies in specific markets and situations.
  • Identifying and coordinating proactive press opportunities across the region drive national/global announcements, in support of policy, corporate, and consumer communications goals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with Corporate and Policy Communications managers across EMEA, collaborating on tick-tock, briefing materials, regional meetings and logistics in the region.

A Typical Day

A typical day for this role would involve a mix of strategic, coordination and tactical tasks:

  • You might start by reviewing media coverage across the region, identifying potential issues or opportunities. You'll then join a call with country leads to discuss an upcoming product launch and align on a coordinated communications plan.
  • You'll work on drafting a briefing document for a global executive's upcoming interview with a major European media outlet. You'll also field a call from a local team needing urgent support on a reactive policy issue, providing guidance on messaging and next steps.
  • You'll collaborate with the Policy and Legal teams to review a new comms strategy for a regulatory challenge in a key market or within the EU institutions. You might also connect with the editorial task force to pitch new story ideas and data-led narratives.
  • You’ll engage with an external survey agency to provide data and insights regarding a pan european study about the positivity impact of Airbnb community across the region

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in communications or public affairs, with a proven track record in corporate and policy communications. Experience working in-house or at a PR agency, particularly within the technology, travel, or sharing economy sectors, is highly desirable.
  • Expertise: Deep understanding of the public policy landscape in the EMEA region and its impact on the tech and travel industries. Experience in working on European regulatory and political matters would be a plus. Proven ability to manage and advise on complex issues, including crisis, trust, and regulatory matters.
  • Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Qualities: Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, matrix organization. A problem-solver who can maintain a calm and enthusiastic demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
